Hi All.
I am going to get a new Forehand rubber. What is the better/best out of those two: -Tenergy 05 OR -Hurricane 3 NATIONAL version. I am a intermediant level player and is a allround player who loves to loop more than block. Yea, yea, you guys will ask me whats my style chinese or erurop. I CAN adapt to both the Chinese style loop and also to european style. Which is better on the forehand? for first and third ball attack? more consistant? If you know anything about those rubbers please make a suggestion to me on which of those is going to play better on the forehand side. Thanks!

maybe provide more info like what you are currently using. personally, i have never used National version but played with Provincial for a while.
for service and service return, i prefer H3 due to better control. for third ball attack, H3 seems to be slightly better and more consistent but not as spiny as T05, T05's opening loop can be monstrous and i often win easy points against lesser players. counter looping is better with H3 if you put effort in it but T05 can get the ball over with less effort. so here it depends on preference. I avoid playing counter loop in my game so i use T05 which is slightly better for my game.

Thanks silva.
I'm current using YEO with rakza 7 and acuda s2, I have played with the normal h3 but not the tenergy. I saw zhangjike play and it was amazing watching his topspin, so i can't decide what to get, i really love the feel of the hard sponge on the h3 neo.

for short game and 3rd ball attack H3neo has more control and is generally considered better, service might slightly better too. away from the table T05 is better since you dont need to generate so much power yourself--> less large swing--> faster recovery, away from the table looping is also quite a bit more forgiving with T05. But in those aspects T64 is even better i think
If i played shakehand id definitly get H3neo over T05 on FH Yeo works very well with hard tacky rubbers btw. not sure about Tenergy Edited by crackfst - 05/11/2013 at 8:22pm |

H3N must cost you more than $100 to be considered genuine. Of course, I am talking blue sponge only.

Yes, I am talking about commercial H3 national and Tenergy 05, which would be better on the FH.
And plus I know where to buy Authentic National Blue sponge as well, they cost about $110 shipped. PLS anyone could give more of their opinion on this would be GREAT... Thanks ppl

They are both great rubbers. H3 National will be better for you long term, but you may end up quitting TT because it has a higher learning curve(crappy basement technique doesn't work). You may stay under 1000 forever.
T05 like many many many threads have pointed out, will destroy your technique, but you may win more people. If you're an average person with no preference to China or Euro style, get T05 1.7. Don't get 2.1, you'll spend many nights cussing and abusing your Tenergy, because it won't listen to you. If you can afford it, buy both. H3 National and Tenergy 05 1.7 This way you will know for yourself and learn more about technique, power, and styles. Instead, of guessing from reading random people's thoughts.

what blade do you use?
with the H3 national can't compete with t05 unless you tune it H3 is optimal/superb with very high stroke speed t05 maximizes the spin on slow speed strokes the earlier the attach in a point the better H3 is the later the exchange goes t05 will dominate |

IMHO, H3 if you are going to tune or glue it regularly. T05 if you aren't. And Tenergys really last a long time.

If you never play any sort of H3, try the cheaper commercial or provincial versions first.

Yea I don't really tune or boost rubbers alot, i only put few layers of speed glued when i first glue the new sheets, and acting like i never going to take the rubber off.
So you guys are all saying if i want Hurrricane nationa, i will need a very good technique? So are you guys all encouraging me to get the tenergy instead? Because it requires less technique to do well. Don't really get your says. btw thanks for the replys

Tenergy is definitely easier to use, especially for looping/counterlooping. requires much less swing speed and swing size for a decent loop/drive, hence its so much better on backhand than any chinese rubber.
I agree that If youve never played chinese Rubbers on the Forehand you should really first get commercial or provincial grade rubbers and some boosters and see if you even like it. No point in paying so much for a national hurricane if you might end up hating it Also to the guy above, while Tenergy lasts a decent time(the topsheet is very durable) the sponge loses a lot of its pop and power after a few weeks. still better than most tensioned rubbers but still, not that durable if you ask me Edited by crackfst - 05/13/2013 at 1:00am |

And the black one gets lately very easily white...
My advice is also to start with some H3Pro BS just to get used to the particular feel and specs of H3.

To the guy above, no doubt the Tenergy does lose some power and pop
after some time, but by durable I mean it has a really long-lasting
topsheet and the sponge still maintains some of the catapult effect it's
known for. IMO even after a while the bounce is still fairly comparable
to a H3 with one layer of VOC glue. I have the same piece of Tenergy 64
on one side of my paddle (for the past 3 years) and a H3 Pro on the
other, so I get to bounce the ball on both sides every now and then,
glued or otherwise to be able to tell. Without glueing or tuning, H3 is
just simply a piece of un-taut rubber that seems to be in the way of the
blade.

Hi
So lets get this straight. Should i get the Hurricane or Tenergy 05? and if i do get tenergy, please tell me what thickness should i get, 1.7, 1.9, 2.1??? And will the tenergy be good for thirdball attack? I played with the Acuda s1 and Hirrcane neo which both is very good for thirdball, just wondering if the Tenergy 05 could come to the top out of them.

Hi,
The difference between H3Neo and H3 Neo National is not significant if you boost. The quality of the topsheet of the national is a bit more elastic, but the right amount of tuner makes the sponge of the commercial version nearly as good. At an intermediate level most points never go beyond the near-mid distance and service return and third ball are far more important. I've tried T05 for around 20-25 hrs and took it off. Once you get used to the big swing on the FH, a medium hard sponge does not cut in anymore. If you are more of a counter-looper, I can suggest the Sigma I Pro over the T05or even H3 National. |

I'm not going to read this thread like I usually do before I post and just say:
H3 national is more expensive, harder to find, riskier to buy (fakes), there's an unreliable supply, and it needs booster. Tenergy will play a lot better out of the package, is cheaper, and you can ALWAYS find some because it's what everyone is using. If you want to use H3, get NEO. It works just fine. And if you're going to boost anyway, then just boost that. It's a good value. Otherwise, there's no reason to buy National H3. Other than tenergy, there are lots of alternatives that are cheaper and work just as well for intermediate level.

now that tenergy is down in the 60 dollar range, bluefire doesn't really have the allure anymore. I have used it, and it is nice. But its still missing that magic that you get with a tenergy. It's completely great, but it's just missing a little something in comparison I d K......

Just buy something and stick with it. Equipment does the most damage to your game when you change it more often than not.

OK...
So everyone here is recommending me to get the Tenergy 05. Because the H3 National requires a good technique. Alright I'm going to get the Tenergy 05! Pls someone tell me what thickness of the Tenergy 05 should i get. 1.9mm or 2.1mm. I want the 1.9 because its lighter and slower and DOES the 1.9mm tenergy 05 have a speed or spin reduced comparing to the 2.1? And just one more question on the tenergy, WILL THE ball fly off the table in an attack because when i uses Hurricane 3 neo it fly off the table 80% of the time, and wondering does this happen with the tenergy.

The ball flying off the table has nothing to do with the rubber, rather how you play. If the ball flies off with H3, it'll fly off with T05.

1st of all Danroid...not to be mean or anything but you need to stop making so many threads pretty much asking very similar questions (H3 Nat or Tenergy... and how does either work with YEO etc etc etc..).
2nd of all... you say you're a intermediate player but when you use H3 Neo your shots fly off the table 80% of the time? Yet you want to spend over $100 bucks on a H3 National? Your reasoning REAALLLLY doesn't make sense here. Just because it's National doesn't mean it comes with magic fairy dust that will improve your play and make you loop like Zhang Jike. Save yourself time and money and spend it on proper coaching to improve your consistency so you can land your shots more than 20% with what you got currently vs depending on a equipment change to help you. On another note, this is why I really hate how much tuning is used for advice on here especially with Chinese rubbers. The guy is missing 80% of his shots with H3 and people are telling him to add boost to his setup... just crazy. Edited by Rack - 05/15/2013 at 1:48am |

Na, i miss 80% of my shots on my H3 neo which is like 2 years old and have no spin at all.
Bu when i played with my H3 comercial, i can play like zhangjike cause its a grippy rubber. and i also boosted it. Yea Rack, sorry about making too many threads!

So you say you played with a boosted commercial and "play like Zhang Jike". If you played that good with it... why not just get exactly the same thing? Why change something you're comfortable with and play good with just for the sake of changing? Stick with what works for you as long as it's not limiting you in any way. Doesn't make much sense to disrupt that and pay that much more money when you already have an established setup you play consistent with. Listen to IanMCG when he says "Equipment does the most damage to your game when you change it more often than not."
Also listen to everyone whos telling you to go up to Provincial and no higher. Unless you're a very high level player who plays high level tournaments alot, there's pretty much no reason to spend the money to get Nationals. Theres not too many people on this forum that can even play up to the level of a Provincial player... so if they can accomplish their level of play using that grade of H3, why would you spend that much more money to buy National along with the risks to get fakes? Not to mention the cost of replacing it when it wears out which it does like any other rubber. Think about it this way... the novelty of a sheet of National only lasts for a short time... especially if your main reason is to "play like Zhang Jike." Well guess what (lets assume you have Zhang Jike's skill which you don't)... Zhang Jike probably changes his rubber fresh every few days to a week for free so what you see is pretty much a fresh sheet at all times paired with insane amount of training. So is that 1 sheet of National really worth 2.5x sheets of Provincial to someone without all that training? Does your current skill level really juice every ounce of advantage from the Provincial grade sheets to really need the extra ceiling that National can bring and warrant paying a lil more than double the price? Edited by Rack - 05/15/2013 at 2:23am |
