More speed = less control
T64 is faster T80 should have more spin T64FX has more dwell and more control, but slower than T64 |

Maybe the mods can sticky this as the thread where all the people who can't loop ask their questions about tenergy.

I agree. T80 is distinctly slower than T64 (or T05) and spinnier than T64. It is closer to T05 than T64 in most respects, I think. It has by far the hardest feel of the three you want us to compare here, and I personally think harder up to a point gives more touch in short game. Some people prefer the other extreme, hence ZAP's comment. You have to like really soft feel to like T64FX. I use T80 for BH but still prefer T05 for FH. Having said that, I could easily get used to using T64. |

Maybe someone who knows japanese can translate this, but bfly themselves seem to indicate that T80 lies between T64 and T05.
It's also worth noting they all seem to be made from same sponge/topsheet material. Only diff is pip geometry. Edited by AgentHEX - 08/27/2013 at 6:14pm |

There's a little thing call marketing. Whereas they had one model of
sriver for a long time, they found out that if you make 10 slightly
different ones some people will buy all 10 and wax philosophical about
the nuances thus prompting other connoisseurs to give them more money.
The T25 at least seems bit novel with clown pips (bit more reliance on sponge grip than mechanical grip), but here's how different the rest are in reality: |

Sigh
If you use the search function you will find lots of threads on T80 vs the others. There is a broad consensus among players who have actually used these rubbers that T80 is slower and "deader" feeling than the others, probably because of the longer pips as well as the spacing. This is irrespective of Btfly marketing, which does not match up with the experience of players. Not just on MyTT but on other forums in other languages as well. I don't think there are many people using it as a FH rubber, but a lot of people like it on BH. T25 is much harder (because of the topsheet's huge pips) and is great for very close in play, but is harder to use at middle distance and beyond. T25FX alleviates this a bit and I quite like it. Still, neither of these have really caught on. These rubbers really do have different playing properties and feel. Edited by Baal - 08/27/2013 at 6:25pm |

The right answer is whereas these rubbers are maybe 5% different, skill/control levels between players can vary by like 1000%+. I think everyone can agree 5 << 1000+. The more analytic but less important answer is that less mechanical grip in a lateral direction means slightly less spin for same stroke. How that translates to control depends on the player/stroke.
People believe all sort of completely wrong things (as you should know well yourself between viscaria/tbs) so I'm not sure how this is convincing. |

Close in? The T64s probably not as good as the others. T80, T25, T25FX, T05 all pretty good.

Tenergy was designed to replace the old glued rubbers that most benefited aggression away from the table so it's the wrong question to ask in the first place. Closer to the table esp hitting is better served by harder sponges or even short pips.

T25FX has hard top sheet and softer sponge, but still plays pretty hard, and all of the T25s were designed for close in play. But most people who play like that use hard Chinese sponges, so T25 and T25FX never caught on, but they are quite good anyway.

It completely depends on what strokes are used. For example, the CNT all tend to use H3 FH and much more mechanical Japanese BH.
In the end it doesn't matter since Tenergy is still designed to spin the ball and MMI isn't a spin player. |

T64FX or T64 is always great for BH. For FH it depends on your stroke/arm speed and distance played from the table. T64 for FH are very good at mid and away from table. The FX version is better for close and mid. and a tiny bit of muscle away. If you have fast arm speed and counter attack and play close and mid then T25 is best. T05 is great at all distances. T80 left me scratching my head. Felt hard and lackluster, not for me. Any of the Tenergys can play all distances really...it just boils down to what works best for your game.
