One of my coaches uses an old Sardius. They are no longer available. What newer blade is most like the Sardius? It's stiff, solid, and has carbon plies. Someone suggested I check out the TB T5000. Any thoughts? I also wish I could find a blade that is slightly oversized . . . not a compact head.

TB T5000 is very fast and solid. A great pure hitter/blocker blade. Loops well away as well.

Charlie Smith (BBC) has a blade among his mainstays which he calls Sardius clone. And of course he can make you a blade with a slightly larger face.

TB T5000 is nothing like Sardius.  None of the sub-6mm blades will play anything like a thick hinoki carbon.  With the help of composites, top speeds of thin blades can be just as fast as thick blades, but the difference in soft shots is big.  Thick blades are more linear and thin blades ramp up with strength.  TB T5000 would feel different to a Sardius user.

I would personally try to find some new old stock of recent Butterfly hinoki carbons around 7mm or a touch more.  Xiom, Donic, TSP, and others all make them as well.

The Sardius has not been discountinued yet. Butterfly still makes those for East Asian market, just like the Viscaria. For example, this seller has many of them

What other 7mm/hinoki+carbon/stiff/solid/OFF+ beasts are out there? ST handle preferred! Slightly oversized preferred!

It's gonna be hard to find oversized because these blades tend to run heavy (one of the original complaints about carbon back in the 90's).  I use a Xiom Strato ST, which would be a hair (really just a hair slower at 0.1-0.2mm thinner) than Sardius (which I am assuming is 7.1mm) and is fairly priced with generously thick hinoki plies.  Primorac Carbon is another hair slower down to around 6.7-6.8mm.  Schlager Carbon is too thick at around 7.4mm.  Or maybe you can just get a Sardius from one of the links others provided above.

I think there is a thread listing all hinoki carbons in another thread on here somewhere.  Donic Carbo System OFF+ is also really close I think.  Gergley Alpha might have a balsa core instead and is compact sized, but does come in ST.  If you must have the ST handle I think the Xiom Strato is the best bet, else just get the Sardius.

Blades like Amultart, Iolite Neo, Photino, etc are also in the same area but obviously utilize different composite layers.

According to B-Fly, SC is their 157x150mm size.
I wish I could find one that is a little larger.

Liu Shiwen blade is 158 x 152mm . . . 5.6mm thick . . . TOO THIN.
Gergely Carbon is 161x152 . . . 6.4mm thick. NEED A LITTLE THICKER.

This sport is filled with trade-offs . . .

You can't have it all. You want control? You lose speed/spin. You want this? You don't get that!

DANG!!

You want everything?  It's possible...  There is a guy called Ross Leidy...

By the time you pay for a Sardius or similar blade, you might as well go to Ross.  Last I looked, Ross is making carbon blades too.  :)

Does anyone have a Ross Leidy that is:

5ply (2 carbon)
7mm
NOT compact head
90g

???

I would be very interested to know how it's working out. As you may know, I am a big Ross Leidy fan and have owned and used a few of his custom all-wood blades.
