Hi,
Whenever I execute a FH loop, I do upper body twisting motion as I prepare and hit the ball. However whenever I do that, my feet, lets say it points forward, then it points to the right as I prepare for the shot, then it hops to the left as i hit the ball. Is this normal? Thanks! :)

I suggest using your feet to twist the upper body. It sounds like, you are twisting your upper body which is causing the feet to move - it should be the other way around. Move the feet to cause the upper body to twist and then causing the arms to swing.

Sorry for the confusion, yeah I'm doing that. I'm moving my feet. However when I execute the swing my feet changes direction (from right to left) in twisting hoping motion.

Any chance you can post a video? Hard to visualize what you are doing. If you are using your feet/legs to generate the power - it should go up your body to the arms and the ball....it sounds like it's going the other way.

Also check out
Chinese Footwork series on youtube This is the first one of five (I think) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cU9ThmrBNFY The change of the foot position from ready position to backswing and the return of the feet to the original position is very apparent in these videos. From the description of the chinese coach in this video series and some other videos I have seen I think this type of footwork is a difference between old school Euro training and modern Chinese training. This may be changing in the more modern Euro training as there is more Chinese influence. Mark |

Some rotation of the feet is natural, so long as you're not turning your upper body at the crotch when looping, like in the video below.
