Sounds like the Yasaka equivalent of Xiom's OVT and Andro's Rasant Grip.

Got it with the new Yasaka Silver 9 Cpen. Price is the best in the range of newly released top of the line rubbers. Feels a lot like R7 but with better control. Throw is neutral. Emphasized on grip for the new ball. Very hard. Got some slipping problem with old and smooth cell ball. Speed and spin is there but not outstanding. But if you can hit through the sponge the pop and glue feel is so sweet. Only issue is the weight. Total setup with 2 RX is over 197g, which is even heavier than RW5 with TG3+R7 @195g.

Any more reviews? Did not try Rakza 9 but I was a big fan of Rakza 7.
I see one here:

Heavy - 50g cut to a standard 157x150 BTY blade (TB-ZLF - a soft blade used as the R10 is advertised to be quite hard). Similar weight to MX-P / M1 / OVT & seems to be similar hardness as well. As a comparison, T05 cut to the same blade came out to 48g.
Shall test tomorrow.

Tried it on a JRE with Rakza X Max on FH and 2.0 on BH.
Low throw, hard and very heavy. Heavy boosting smell when opening the package. I prefer Rakza7 over this one. |

I got it from TT11 (Estonia)
My preference is towards Rakza X. Yesterday, I hit for a couple of hours with a brand new set-up (red RX max, black T05 max on a new 86g TB-ZLF). My current set-up as well as my last few ones use T05 both sides (primarily because I don't find my preferred harder rubbers to be a good match to my hard MJ or MJ-SZLC blades). RX was 50g cut to the TB-ZLF (the T05 on the other side was 48g) so it is in the same weight range as all other new 47.5 degree sponge rubbers. I preferred RX on both sides over T05 on that blade. RX was a lot more stable and offered way better control than T05 - it felt a bit like MX-P but with better control. Very spinny and good in the short game. I liked Rakza 7 back in the day (see my old, old comparison of R7 with T05 on a TB-ZLF blade here). That was done before all the newer rubbers came out (Bluefires, Evos and what not). Back to R7 vs RX, one R7 disadvantage I did not think of then is that the non-Tenergy topsheets of that generation (including the older Acuda topsheets) exhibit grip deterioration over time. IMHO, RX is even a step-up from R7 in control. The RX topsheet is a significant improvement than the R7 one as well. Throw does not seem that low to me. Lower than T05 for sure (like most rubbers) but I'd classify it as medium. |

Thanks for the review!
So, instead to make more faster and softer with bigger catapult effect rubbers for the new balls, the brands are offering more heavy, spiny and hard, but slowly rubbers with low throw. Hm... |

Well, no. The brands have always offered rubbers in generally 3 hardness levels: ~ 47.5 deg, ~ 42.5 deg, ~ 40 deg. Some offer 45 deg (Vega Japan, Rasant Grip, Omega V Euro). You take what you like. Examples: Evolution: MX-P / EL-P / FX-P Bluefire: M1 / M2 / M3 Bluefire JP: JP01 / JP02 / JP03 Acuda: S1 / S2 / S3 Rakza: X / 7 / 7 soft An exception is Xiom which offers even more choice. A lot of the new offerings are medium throw. The characteristic of the latest gen of ESN offerings seems to be very good grip. The newer generations are generally heavier than the older ones.

I agree with Slevin's review. RX has great control, medium throw and plenty of spin and power. I can use it on either side, but marginally prefer the more direct feel of Rhyzm on the FH and the RX on the BH. I've used it on a Xiom Vega Euro blade and on a Ross Leidy custom 7 ply and it adds dwell time and feel on both.

The great news here seems to be that the rubber shall be about 42.5 deg (harder than R7 soft). Given that Rakza X is my favorite ESN offering so far (I like it more than MX-P & OVT for it's control, consistency and grip), I'll be looking forward to it's release.

How does it compare to Tenergy 80?
|
||
I like putting heavy topspin on the ball...
Cybershape Carbon FH/BH: H3P 41D. Lumberjack TT, not for lovers of beautiful strokes. No time to train... |

It is slightly harder and has a similar throw angle to T80. It is less jumpy and has better control. Similar spin. Also a factor: it is the cheapest of the new ESN offerings. I would not put it on a hard ZLC blade but it would work like a charm on ALC blades or all-wood. While it works great on FH, surprisingly (given it's hardness level), it is also a very good BH rubber. It is a bit slower than Tenergy and unlike the Tenergies, it is very linear. In case, you're playing this Friday, I'll bring my ZJK-ALC blade with T05 on one side and RX on the other for you to test. It is grippy like the Rasant Grip except that I did not like the Rasant Grip (it's speed to spin ratio was way too high). In RX, the speed to spin ratio is perfect, encouraging full strokes.

I find it interesting that Rakza X (regular) still hasn't been made available in the North American market - what gives? =P

We received a message from Yasaka table tennis that their sponsored player, Jin Takuya reached the final of the Japanese National Championships and is currently using Rakza X and is very satisfied with its performance!
