There is no perfect club. There are too many things going on different in the same place to make that not feasible. Heck, even ICC isn't a perfect club, but it is damned good. There are many things one can do to set up a new club for success and grow it. You need a market, but a lot of the good stuff you can do with a club can creat the market or bring it out depending on one's point of view.

Larry Hodges would simply LOVE join it on this discussion, I would say. He is full of opinions and comment in this area frequently on his blog and comments (damned right ones in my opinion) about what USATT is doing and not doing to grow the sport and thus membership numbers, and ultimately cash flow.

Okay, I will pick a CITY, since they have two new famous residents, didn't do any research, don't live there, never been there !

Cleveland - start designing - you don't have to live there !

Some demographics for the Greater Cleveland Metro with 5 counties per the 2010 census

2.1 million

Total Asians 3% or 63,000 say 3,100 potential participants from Asians

19 Colleges and Universities

Present USATT registered clubs - 4 - No full time clubs

Shaker Heights - Wed 6:30 - 9:30 pm Sunday 12:30 - 3:30 pm

Strongsville - Tues/Thurs 5-9 pm summer, rest of year 5-10 pm

Cleveland - Tues/Thurs 7:30 - 10 pm

Eastlake - Mon/Thurs 7 - 10 pm Sat 1-5 pm

Is it for profit club? or non-profit?
Strange, I would've thought you would have picked Pongville!

Let's make it a profit/break even club, where it at least pays the manager/coach a decent salary, after that it at least breaks even. In other words, it should make a net profit equal to the manager's base salary.

This would provide a model for a manager financed or investor financed club.
