Any brave soul willing to give it a try? |

I wish I had known that! That's a ridiculous price for a Chinese ball.
Edit: Made in China is right there plain to see on their website. Oh well. I just assumed it was another Japanese ball. |

Any easy mistake to make, considering that TSP *** and Nittaku *** Premium are the only 3-star (celluloid) balls which are still made in Japan. Will be waiting for your impressions. |

Yep. I guess I took one for the team this time. Hopefully it will be a decent ball. I am not optimistic.
Edit: Chances are Jim T already knows what it will be like since he has used DF. |

DoubleFish was actually judged the best one of the seamed balls that we have tried; not just by me but by some of my clubmates as well. If TSP is a tiny bit closer to the celluloid then more power to it. |

I played with DF balls, and liked it a lot. Good price too (still work out to be about $2/ball) compare to the other.

Just a hint.
Bulk supply will cost you much less. We have now sealed a mutual bargain with DHS Factory in Shanghai.. Supply total of 50grosses --0.80 USD a ball (***) --0,45 USD a ball (*) Under the terms of treaty, we are bound to use the DHS product exclusively for all events next year. TSP40+ balls, I bought some a few months ago as I mentioned above on the thread. They were not good. I gave most of them away.
They have seams. |

Wow! I am genuinely shocked and disappointed to read this.. Both the training and 3 Star match balls of the celluloid variety are top notch... Looks like TSP have conceded that their market share in the ball market is not worth any major investment... |

I think they are just DHS balls re-badged. The reason I went and pre-ordered them was because I too thought their celluloid balls were great and also because it was a Japanese company so I thought there might be something different about them (I don't know why I thought that). But they were really awful. They had a June 2014 manufacture date if I remember correctly (or right around then). I played with them around end of August or beginning of September. I had only two boxes. I gave them away after trying them for a day or two.

I bought a box of those a month ago. Two of them were so unspherical and wobbly that were unplayable.
The third ball actually played fantastic, very crisp, great bounce, everybody loved it, but after about two hours it cracked and just split in half out of nowhere. It was just a normal control loop, no edge, no smack or anything, never before seen a ball just crack like that. So quality is nothing short of horrific, but if somebody can make a perfectly round ball that can last a few days I would love it.

What bothered me was the low bounce.

Yeah - you've got to figure that they chose this material for some decent reasons and had reasonable expectations that it would be usable. It seems clear to me that one of those decent reasons is that they can use this material with their existing equipment and methods. So the material probably isn't hopeless. The problem is that they are selling 3* balls that are really "beta" balls - but selling them at premium ball prices. They still have kinks to work out either in the making of the material, the ball formation process, or both.

The date the balls were bought may not have a lot of relationship to when the balls were made. I keep hoping these seamed 40+ balls will get better. If they can get the bounce height right, that would be a good first step. Roundness is partly a quality control issues, although with DHS balls I noticed that balls that started off round didn't necessarily stay that way.

I think I have largely adjusted to the bounce height and the ball plays better If my test sample is representative. Durability is still an issue though

I like putting heavy topspin on the ball...
