I recommend not using glue sheet. There are videos on youtube on how to glue OX sheet one by Jay (water based glue) and another by Dr. Neubauer (speed glue). If you're not playing high level tournaments I would recommend gluing using speed glue or rubber cement. Also just put glue on the blade and not on the rubber.

It doesn't matter if you're playing in tournaments or not. Rubber cement or whatever will go on thinly and there's basically nowhere for it to sink in. I can't imagine it would test positive more than a few hours, no matter what kind of glue you use.

I love glue sheets, but the blade must be sealed to avoid pulling half the top sheet off when removing. Glue sheets are simple, neat, clean, and convenient. Jay T has great technique assembling OX rubbers with water-based blue, but keep in mind he usually glues up Dr. Evil, which has a very thick base. It's possible, but much more difficult with something as thin as Grass DtecS. There are ways to glue those flimsy OX rubbers onto a blade, but still much easier with a glue sheet.

I suppose any method works once you get use to it.
But I've tried glue sheets (okay) The roller method (not bad) But by a mile the easiest method I have encountered is to do this when gluing OX sheets. I love how if you're not happy with it you can simply try it again. Can't beat this price. I will say though anytime a LP rubber has a nice thick base sheet, I do appreciate that.

Oh my God...does this guy on video know how to apply a rubber on a blade???Doesn't he know that he must dry out the glue first from the rubber and from the blade too and then apply???

The advantage of putting OX rubbers on while the glue is still wet is you can still wiggle the rubber and smooth out any air pockets. the glue will still eventually dry and the rubber will not fall off.

I found this: http://tabletennis-reviews.com/gluing-a-long-pimple-rubber-without-sponge-a-novel-new-way/
I may give this a try next time I need to glue an OX rubber.

I agree only with your state my friend, otherwise it is completely wrong!I prefer to put glue on rubber and blade, let them dry and the apply the ox rubber with precise!I have glue several ox rubbers for my club mates and I did it wuite great with any difficulty...the only think you must do is apply the rubber carefully and slow in order to avoid bubbles!I f you do it nice and slow there will be no problem at all!

Have you tried this method?
http://tabletennis-reviews.com/gluing-a-long-pimple-rubber-without-sponge-a-novel-new-way/ I've glued numerous OX rubbers this way, including ~40 sheets of Dtecs OX (I use it myself too), and I've not found an easier way. |
