I am glad I am not the only one. Really liked Rakza 7 with old ball on FH and Rakza 7 Soft on BH. I am having real problems with topspin against good backspin and any sort of brush looping with the Yasaka seamed plastic ball. Also finding variation of my pushes and short pushes erratic. I play in the top division of local league and my stroke has clearly moved to using both brush and drive looping as I have moved into my late 40s. I can't play flat out all the time so use a lot of topspin, placement and trajectory variations now. The problem is getting good contact from the topsheet in many spin shots. I have lengthened my stroke and smoothed it's acceleration to prolong the contact time (hold ball on rubber more) which is helping get spin but only works when I am in perfect position to execute. Pushing also suffers from erratic bite on contact. I think I need a slightly softer, grabbier top sheet but don't want to lose the allround reliabilty I had with Rakza 7 previously (esp topspin v topspin, good service spin and control of service return). Are others thinking softer topsheet / longer pips / more tacky rubber to get better contact ? Edited by fiveplyian - 04/22/2015 at 4:27am |

I think about nothing else. Lots of the new generation of ESN rubbers have moved to really high grip topsheets, which help with this. The older generation ones I've tried (Aurus, Acuda) with the new ball all suffer from a feeling of slippage at times for me. They're fine if you drive through the ball all the time, but when using a fine contact the results are...unusual...sometimes.

This was a great signature until I realised it was overrated.

If t05 is fast for you, use t05 fx. Good luck.

I'm using Andro Rasant Grip. Its really good with the new ball. Loads of spin. Personally, I prefer the new ball. It is slightly harder and slightly heavier, thus making it easier to penetrate into the sponge. I prefer the feel of the 40+ ball. I also find it has a better feel with my med pips. I also like my slower blade when playing with the new 40+ balls. So far, Nexy and Xushaofa are the best 40+ balls. Donic and Nittaku 40+ balls are complete junk.

I found donic bluefire M1 completely non slippery , so I will change to it even though I am loosing the medium stroke spin of 05 , consistency is more important for the time being.
