    Posted: 06/15/2015 at 6:32pm
I have two questions.
1) Can I use TSP Curl P-1R on off+ blade such as Butterfly ZLC on my backhand?
2) what thickness should I choose ?  .5mm, 1.0-1.3mm or 1.4-1.7mm.

Your advice is appreciated.

1) You can use it on the backhand of a Butterfly ZLC. I don't know what you're aiming for, so it's hard to approximate this question.

2) Depends on what you want to do. Do you want to block? Do you want to chop? Do you want to attack? Are you planning to play aggressively or passively?

Since it is my first pips, are these assumptions correct ?

for block: 1.0-1.3mm
for chop: 1.0-1.3mm
for attach: 1.4-1.7mm
for receiving spin serve (anti-spin): 0.5-1mm

thx in advance.

For an offensive backhand and first-time pips players, which one should I choose ?

For me, if you new for LPs. I suggest LPs with thin sponge (0.3-1.0) is easier to use than that thick sponge because you'll have the hard time to get the ball on the table.

yes I agree with Tabmini, since you're new to pips, definitely pick the 0.5mm version, as you'll need the control. This pimple is relatively slow, which will help with control on the fast blade.

OX on a fast blade is much harder to control.

My level is @1500 or 1600 on a good day.  :-)

I plan to use it for chopping and blocking in a defensive playing.   No much for attacking.

I guess 0.5mm TSP P-1R will be a better choice for control than for speed on my Butterfly ZLC since ZLC is a off+ blade.

Many thanks for all your advice.

TSP P-1R isnt an easy LP to play with. if its your first time with lp, I suggest you pick something cheaper and easier to use, such as Galaxy Neptune. If you like it, then you can go from there and you will have a better idea of what you like.

tsp curl p1r requires a full stroke. But quite honestly, If you want to get better playing a style of a mordern defender, get a slower blade than ZLC which compliments the style. There are all sorts of people playing different blades but once you see over 2200 level players they all settle with a joo blade, butterfly defence 2 or 3, mat pro special, donic def play senso.

A slower blade would probably complement the rubber better, I guess it depends what you require for your forehand also.

Agree with all the above a 0.5mm up to 1mm, once you get more used to the strokes and the feel you can work with slightly thicker sponges and start varying strokes more.

Yep, firetack is right. Here you go... notice the "R" just to the right of TSP.

P-1 is a nightmare on a fast blade AND as a first LP. May I suggest Feint 3 in 0.5mm, as this is the most forgiving chopping rubber and the slowest and on THAT blade you will need something slow. The sponge on the P-1 is a rock and gives you no mercy at all if technique is not perfect.
