    Posted: 08/20/2015 at 2:25pm
I've really fallen in love with the Yinhe Earth 3 blade. It's sort of inspired by the Butterfly Petr Korbel (it's apparently Limba-Spruce-Ayous-Spruce-Limba). It's flexy and has a nice soft touch, the feel/dwell is just amazing.

I've never had a blade quite this soft/flexy and so I am a bit wary of putting too soft a rubber on there a getting a mushy feel. Right now I have DHS TG3 Neo on the Forehand and it's great. With an active stroke I can really feel the ball sinking into the hard sponge.

My dilemma is backhand. I typically like a slightly softer rubber on backhand but don't want to get one too soft for the blade. I rely on fast short loops/drives on backhand as well as quick punchy pushes and chops. I do basically no blocking or hitting. I want something control focused but fast enough to loop well. I've tried 729 Cream Transcend and LKT Rapid Sound there but neither really fit the bill.

Any recommendations for a softer but not too soft rubber for backhand? I like a soft and slightly less tacky rubber on BH compared to FH so the ones I'd considered were:

-Xiom Vega Europe (or Omega IV Europe)
-DHS Tinarc3
-Sriver EL
-Friendship 729 Aurora

Any other suggestions appreciated though, thanks!

My bet would be to try Vega Euro, Pro, or even Japan. Either of those are a good value for the money.

I remember I tried Sriver EL on bh on a korbel and it was mush mush. Compared to new tensors, Sriver might be outdated now to use, especially with the new ball. Unless of course you boost it.

I believe that the Earth E-3 has Spruce secondary plies, due to the stripe-like wood grain similar to that of the Hurricane King, Offensive Classic and P500.

I suggest DAWEI 2008 XP Super Power. It's basically a Mark V/Sriver-like rubber for $8. It's a bit heavy, and TG3NEO/2008 might make your setup quite head-heavy. But in terms of price/performance, 2008 is unbeatable.

I've got some Xiom Vega Euro's on order, hoping they work out so I can keep it at least a bit light. If not I'll dive into heavier territory like the 2008XP or maybe the Tinarc3 which I hear is good for backhand too on a blade like this. Any other advice is still appreciated.

Also, with Vega Euros I've heard they are prone to shrinking, should I cut mine 2mm long just in case? Any other Tensor care suggestions?

don't glue with rubber cement. Stick to water or latex based glue.

I use Donic Vario Clean for everything so no worries there. Should I expect these to not last as long because it's a Tensor?

People have been false informed.
I have never had an xiom rubber give out on me in the first 8/9 months.
I cant speak on other brands.
Im no pro, so take my input for what you will.

i use Vega Europe glued with Xiom ibond and have had no shrinkage issues. My blade has soft outer ply over Douglas Fir and I don't find it mushy (but I'm no great expert so do with that what you will).

Why is that?
Reading reviews it seems like something in other glues is reacting to the Tensor sponge and causing it to shrink, seems more pronounced the more glue is used. Water-based should get around it apparently but I'm cutting mine 2mm long just in case, I can always trim more in a few weeks.
