Finally got some footage of my practice.
After my one year break this is me playing only once a week for the past 5-6 months. Hard to solidify technique by playing only once a week but it is what it is. It just feels like I'm re-learning my technique every session instead of advancing forward. Work, school, gf got me busy but hopefully in the future ill be able to play more and actually progress. Video is edited to cut out the boring stuff and added slow motion for your entertainment. I particular like the side shot because it lets me see my reflection in the mirror and gives another perspective into body movement & dynamics. My practice partner in this video noted that I need to adjust my timing a bit for my forehand in order to have a more forward stroke. Ball used: NP40+ Equipment: in signature |

Looks good and relaxed. There is a power transmission problem because you aren't hitting the ball with the power of your core rotation on the forehand side though maybe you aren't going for power at all. I would recommend you fix the upper arm more and turn the shoulders to ensure that you are hitting the ball while rotating your core. This is more critical on the forehand side. The backhand looks largely good though there can be timing improvements there as well. There is also more upward motion on the forehand than I prefer but I think that will come out more if you counterloop and are forced to adapt.

I like putting heavy topspin on the ball...

Thanks for the input. I was going for more control than power. Trying to improve my consistency and placement in this practice session. |

looks good to me. Nice European backhand. Mine is similar and people always tell me my swing is too big, but usually its people with no muscles that tell me that. They just block on BH or do a little wrist twitch. You use the whole arm, and I like to think I do too.

Overall I think you have good technique and you are on the right path. There are still some minor things to fix what can have major effect. I agree with Nextlevel 110%, you need to work little bit more with your core. I would like to see little bit more weight transition from right to left as well. In the beginning of the stroke you should bring your left shoulder little bit more infront of the body. If you can add those things to your forehand technique, then you come have really good weapon. PS! I started playing in 2009 and after 6 years working on my forehand technique I finally feel that I am satisfied with it. It is nowhere perfect, but I am happy. Taking that into consideration, be patient and in training always think about your technique. Also practising infront of the mirror helps=shadow training. Good luck!
