The last one is not a chop block, it's called 抹(to wipe).
A prime example. Edited by zeio - 01/07/2017 at 2:41pm |

Cool story bro but these tricks don't work on Ryu, he just wipes the floor with you

Yes! BTW, for me, that 2009 Yokohama match was one of the best matches I have ever seen. Kenta was such a huge promise, he dazzled with his blocking techniques. Brute power often prevails, however. OTOH, Ma Long has the brains to know when to use his chop/sideblocks.

I remember seeing JO Waldner using this shot a lot, then Kenta of course, but the most efficient seems to be the one of ML......

Ya, I remember watching that match live on ITTV. Arguably the best match of that WTTC, and definitely one of the most memorable, intense and anti-climatic matches in the 40mm era. His dual-side tomahawk serve and all-round style were refreshing and mesmerizing to watch on TV. The home crowd support was fantastic given Japan was hit hard by the swine flu. Gave the CNT a big sweat. If not for LGL's timeout at 1:4 in the 7th, I believe MLin would have been eliminated. As for ML, I think he first used the chop-block extensively in the match against Lee Sangsu in the men's team final at the ATTC 2013. Was down 0:2 in games and that stroke turned the table and saved the day. |

Imagine how could it would be if this were a viable play to use regularly in the match:
