I'm trying to decide which paddle to glue up next--a yasaka gatien carbon or a yasaka ma lin extra offensive. As far as I know, the gatien carbon (a blade I got over a decade ago) is different from the ma lin carbon, and I can't seem to find many direct comparisons online...so which do you think is faster? (or slower, I guess, since I want to glue the slower of the two, haha.)

I guess this wouldn't be an issue if I had more rubbers lying around.

thank you!

I think Gatien Carbon has arylate-carbon at the third ply?

I'm guessing Gatien carbon should be faster but I've never played with one. YEO does have the word "offensive" in its name but for the new plastic ball it's just too slow

Indeed, YEO Power 7 which is harder version is a better option than YEO for the poly ball, I've been using it for quite some time and happy with it. Have not played with Gatien though.

I own a Yasaka Goiabao, which is the updated version of YEO for poly ball. It's plenty fast, only a notch slower than one of my 7mm hinoki carbon blade. It's even faster than the stiga clipper

I tried some years ago one Gatien Carbon 3D and I found quite soft and flexible, like Donic Waldner Senso Carbon. For me, YEO is faster even without carbon.

YEO Power 7 is seven ply carbon blade and is quick as well. Haven't tried Goiabao but it looks like it's a 5 ply all wood, so I'm assuming it would be slower than YEO Power 7. Have you tried it?

It's a great blade, especially with Tibhar Evo rubbers and at less than $50 you should definitely give it a try.
