What a amazing blade!

The introduction of the wonderful racket I met.

In September 2017, I watched the image of the work produced
by Tricky1 and I was impressed.
I immediately contacted and asked to make a blade
using "Zylon / TeXtreme".
Now, what I am at hand is the only blade that was produced
three months, the name is "CounterParts".

1) The Shape:

Total length: 258 mm.
Blade :
Length: 153 mm.
Width: 152 mm.
Thickness: 12 mm.

Grip : Flare
length: 105 mm.
Thickness: 23.5mm.

Please look at the picture.

The blade is like an egg's shape, the grip is elegant and sexy.
When connecting each vertex of the grip, it became
completely parallelogram, and accent was given
by putting a notch in the center of the grip.

Although it seems to be a defensive shape if it does somewhat,
this racket is unquestionably designed to have
"the world's most power of attack".

2) Design direction:
The plywood configuration is listed below.

9 plywood:
Layer-1: Hinoki (thickness 0.3 mm).
Layer-2: Westan Red Cedar (0.3 mm).
Layer-3: Lutz Spruce (0.3 mm).
Layer-4: Zylon / TeXtreme.
Layer-5: Balsa Core (10.0mm).
Layer-6: Zylon / TeXtreme.
Layer-7: LutzSpruce (0.3 mm).
Layer-8: Westan Red Cedar (0.3 mm).
Layer-9: Hinoki (0.3 mm).

From the blade side, the material of the grip will be
Lutz Spruce,
Yellow Cypress (thin),
Western Red Cedar,
in that order.

Noteworthy is the thickness of the core material balsa It is 10.0 mm how.
Racquet with core material of this thickness will be rare.
In order to increase the attack power, it is designed to expand
the interval between Zylon / TeXtreme layers of each other
and accompany as much repulsive force as possible during hitting ball.
Three layers of wood stacked on top of it are provided
to pursue controllability and shot feel.
Especially, since Westan Red Cedar is flexible, it becomes
a cushioning material when weak ball hit is desired,
and it plays a role of preventing "accidental fire" when asking for a strong hit ball.

3) The Weight.
The weight of the blade is 98.7 g.
It is definitely a heavy racket.
However, in order to avoid the troublesome handling, the grip
is made long, and the blade shape makes the tip slimmer
and widens the bottom.
As a result, the center of gravity of the entire racket was quite close
to the grip, and it was to combine the unexpected handling better
than imagined from its weight.

4) Performance and details.

Rubber used,
Fore: Tenargy 05 (max).
Back: Mizuno Q3 (max).

Handling: (9/10): It is really easy to use.
Flare and thickness of the grip firmly adapts to my palm.
Also, because the base and end of the grip are expanded,
it is easy to change over and easy to adjust the reach.
Also, there is no way to get out of the hand.
However, the influence of the total weight of the racket
has appeared.
Although it has been relaxed considerably by the design
of the blade, in order to swing strongly, a slightly large preliminary
action is required.
This probably means that my physical is not catching up
with the racket.

Speed: (10 +++/10): Fierce!!
You can add your own power without killing the power
of the opponent's hit ball.
Because it is extremely thick, it is hard to bend, and with intense
duel time, an intense catapult is born.
Actually, (Carbon Veil) is placed in the grip (under the thumb).
This has the effect of suppressing deflection of the base
of the grip at the time of hitting the ball and improving playing
of the ball.
This also contributes to the shortness of the duel time.
Bangs are just like lightning lights, and there are definitely
decided at the next moment of hitting.

Spin: (9/10): Very good!
From the tremendous speed performance, it can be said that
the rotation performance is unexpectedly good.
The drive draws a linear trajectory, and the elongation
after landing is also wonderful.

Controllability: (8/10): Good!
Sweet spot is extraordinarily wide.
The quality of the wood used is extremely high, and
the thickness of each plywood layer is also very uniform.
Also, because the momentum is strong, carefulness is required.
However, coupled with the good handling, it is possible
to hit a stable return ball.
Even if I fail, I can be convinced that my skills are not reached.

Serve: (9/10): Very good!
With this speed performance, it is surprising that serve is easy
to perform.
Grip base thickness and blade thickness make it easy to change
the racket and close to the center of gravity to enable delicate
control.

Feeling: (7/10): nice!
I feel the shot feeling is quite soft.
It is probably a point where taste breaks up.
However, by hardening the edges of the blade
with a thin epoxy adhesive, weak hit balls are reliably fed back
to the hands, and a strong hit ball is captured softly
to prevent fatigue of the hands.

Cost performance: (10 +/10) Great!!
This racket is a precisely and precisely processed
latest special material and the best wood.
But its price is $ 175.
There is no doubt that it will exceed expectation.

Customer service: (10 +++/10) Excellent!
I fully responded to my request.
The finish of the blade was beautiful beyond my expectation,
I understood that it is clear that customer's satisfaction is
always kept in mind.

Finally:
I was very fortunate to know Tricky1.
I asked the creation of a custom racket and I was not satisfied
as much as this time.
Tricky1 gave me 99.9% of my request with an
uncompromising attitude.
It is a figure made from shape to finish, with no compromise.
(0.1% of the rest? It will not be completed as art works will develop anywhere as it goes down.
That's just the reason.)
I express my highest respect and appreciation to Tricky1.
And, ahh...Thank you very much!

P.S.
- CounterParts -.
This name is from the album of the progressive rock band "Rush".
Cover illustration combining bolt and nut.
The meaning refers to the counter electrode structure
of yin and yang, those who give and give, men and women, and so on.
This racket was named from the album name because it was
the theme of wood and special materials, attack performance
and controllability, visible ingenuity and invisible ingenuity.
Come on, let's Elevert!

While making a blade is by no means easy
I've made around 200, I always am happy to see new designs such as these.

It seems the flared handle would impede your grip in doing backhands.
Also it looks like this is a combination paddle from the pictures.

I wonder how the use of combination woods translates to enhance catapult

I however have used the idea from Rendler on using thick balsa with thinner ones outside
and it does give a modified catapult effect

Thanks for the reply, Dr. Cho.

Although it is a grip end, if you hold it deeply,
I think that some people will definitely get in the way.
It was not a problem to me, but rather,
I felt that the center of gravity of the racket was close to hand and it was easy to play.
If you get in the way, I think straight grip is good.

And the catapult effect is how much the racket tends to bend when hitting the ball,
and how much repulsive force it generates is important.
This racket got a strong catapult by taking a large interval between the Zylon / TeXtreme layers on both sides.
If you thinner the racket, the repulsion will be lower.
Of course, if you feel too much bouncing, I think you should thin it.
