Everywhere I've looked shows Globe 889 only in 1.8mm thickness. Anybody here know where I can get 889 in 2.5mm/MAX thickness?

Suppliers can order it in from the factory in any thickness, but the 1.8mm seems to be a popular thickness that is commonly used, not sure why...

Have tried the 889 in any thickness? There may be a reason why 1.8mm is popular, may be optimum for that rubber.

BTW the 889-2 may be another option, which is spinnier than the 889.

You can get Juic Neo 889 (which I'm pretty sure is the same as Globe 889-2) in max thickness from Paddle Palace for $24.95 a sheet.

I've got a red topsheet left I can put on any sponge you want up to 2.4 (but I wouldn't recommend it).

Yes I have a sheet of Juic 889 SV Max, but in the midst of regluing, the sheet got caught to the blade and tore in two last night. I'm really looking for a similar replacement of that sheet... but Globe 889 always seems to be a cheaper buy.

I was told that the pips are arranged vertically on one and horizontally on the other.  Not sure how much difference that makes.

That is a good deal, probably worth jumping on.

Or Cole can give you more options on sponges.  I often find pre-assembled Chinese short pips don't have as soft a sponge as I'd like.

Cole, do you have 889 or 889-2 in that red topsheet?

I only have the globe version, not the juic version. I'm told the pips are aranged differently?

Anyway, why get a non spinny pip like 889 then put it on a thick soft sponge?  I don't understand the mechanics here.

The 889 I've seen, which were the globe and juic standard versions, were both quite dead in terms of spin, although the topsheets are pretty fast.  I mostly see punch block penholders using it.

I am really looking for a pips-out that plays like Butterfly Impartial. 889 I found to be a somewhat similar rubber. For some reason I get a pretty good amount of spin out of it. Impartial was really good. You could even loop with it with good results.

The 889 is meant to be a spinny pip, the 889-2 even spinnier.

Compared to other short pips, or compared to longer pips?  Name a short pip that 889 is spinnier than.
