I have red sheet of Gambler Outlaw.  Nice sheet of rubber.
But there will be lots different reviews of it.  I have not put any speed glue on it, and it will loop effectively.  The thing that make reviews vary is that it has different feel if you hit or counter.  Kinda gives me the feeling of regular sriver, as it loops well but counters with a hard crack feeling.
So players that don't loop well, will think this rubber is hard with no spin.  But if you can loop it will feel like a medium sponge.

And it seems like it will be durable, unlike most of the gambler stuff.
The reason I say this is because it has the look of high content of synthetic rubber like flextra.  Which gives it a plastic type of look to it.

A short way of describing it would be - A cross between JO Platin and regular sriver but with synthetic rubber

For $14 dollars a sheet, Nice sheet of rubber.   But it ain't no T05

my plans for it is to use on my bh which i loop 50% of time and counter hit 50% of time , but probably go back to T05 both sides before a tourney

nice review. I'm mainly a blocker/ hitter but I also loop. Do you think it would suit me? I use a Clipper.

Thanks for your comments.  From your description, it reminds me of the Goldway Destroyer which was Friendship's earlier attempt at a glue-effect rubber even before the glue ban.  I hit with it on a Galaxy 896 and it felt ok I suppose.  But it doesn't look like the Outlaw is much of an improvement.  For the price, it's still worth the try though.

yes similar to destroyer, but better.  When I tried destroyer , it was a must for me to speed glue on it.  Which the sheet changed the way it hit each time glued and soon fell apart.

Outlaw feels good without glue.  Not as fast or as much spin as T05, but enuff to be happy

I've tried regular inspirit,  which outlaw I feel is much better than.  Haven't tried inspirit quattro though

does the sponge feel dynamic like euro/jap rubber or stiff like chinese rubber? Does it work well for smashing?

Destroyer brought a pretty zippy blocking game for me on the BH, but looping was tough due to short dwell. Plus the topsheet looked pretty ugly very soon.

If Outlaw allows a bit more dwell and has a better topsheet, then it may be a winner.

Does it?

I tried this rubber last night along with 729-08.  I want to hold my opinion on the -08 untill I glue it on my blade and play with it for a while.

I will give my opinion on the Gambler Outlaw though.  I can't add very much more than what has already been said, but I will try.

I tried both rubbers on two different blades, a 1 ply ayous blade and a 7-ply 729 blade.  The 729 blade was a bit faster than what I am used to, but the 1ply ayous was about my normal speed (I normally play a 5 ply p500-like blade.....butterfly kong ling hui).  On both of these blades, the rubber does exactly what Dalamchomps says......it spits right out of the rubber.  Basically there is no feel to the rubber.....the ball hits and is gone, no sinking in at all.  I personally don't like this for I am used to rubbers like globe 999 where you can really feel the ball sinking in.

Due to this fact, I found the rubber extremely hard to control.  It was almost like the ball wasn't in contact with the rubber long enough to control what you want to do or where you want the ball to go.

In terms of spin, I have to disagree with what others have said, it may be somewhat spinny, but in my opinion no where near as spinny as globe or for that matter the newer butterfly rubbers, or for that matter even the 729-08.  The speed is very good, faster than most rubbers I have tried including the platin soft.

I think this rubber would be better for someone not looping, maybe for someone who smashes more or even blocks more.  I had a hard time controlling this rubber probably due to a variety of factors including the difference from globe 999, lack of feel, the speed, and lack of spin that I am used to.

However, if you are someone that wants a fast rubber and play a fast carbon blade that already has no feel than this rubber may be for you!!!

Oh wanted to add,  The sponge actually felt pretty soft (by hand) compared to rubbers like globe and the new 729-08.  Which is actually confusing because normally softer sponges will allow the ball to sink in..........go figure??????

After hearing some good things about it, I bought the Outlaw. I have been using it for 2 weeks and, contrary to the negative reviews, it is the best rubber I have ever used.

Its soft, grippy topsheet and medium hardness, powerful sponge produce the best combination for me.  I love how it can make slow, spinny loops using only the topsheet and strong, powerful loops using the sponge.  It serves only okay compared to tacky rubbers, but pushes suprisingly well for such fast rubber.  It is much bouncier, faster, and spinnier than 729-5.

I have already bought another sheet of Outlaw to replace the 729-5 on my backhand.

Geddoe, I currently have this rubber on my K6 and used it for the first time during league play tonight.  I have to agree with your sentiments, but add that my serves are more consistent with this rubber.

I received Outlaw Red 2.0mm today plus a sheet of Inspirit UL 1.8mm 35 degree. First impression, Outlaw is light, 58gram uncut, the IUL is only 57g! I will post my views of both rubbers on a TSP Balsa 5.5 soon

How does the rubber play close to the table then? In blocking, first timing counter looping, looping of initial backspin ball.. 3rd ball attack, short balls?

Opps sorry, alot of questions there.

I am only going to compare it to tenergy.

less spin by far and less speed in most shots.  So outlaw has more control in slow, passive, short, low, at the table kind of shots.  Its less predictable a step back.

It is quite fast when you belt into it, but every rubber is fast when you hit it, even hardbat no sponge.

I glued the Outlaw today using Andro water glue, 2mm on FH of TSP Balsa 5.5.  Rubber is grippy but not tacky, and had a freshly glued aroma.

My observations -  Spin-very high, playing against other good players they commented how much spin there was on my loops and serves, and had trouble returning them.

Short game was far better than I anticipated -perhaps this is down to the blade but pushes and short backspin returns were easy to play and loaded with backspin when needed - Loops against backspin were pretty straightforward to pull off.

The TSP Balsa 5.5 blade allows me to hit and 'slap' the ball or Loop with heavy spin. Can do both with the Outlaw with ease, Loops and serves definitely have more spin than Mark V Max on a Jonyer H, which is impressive to me as I was already getting heavy spin.

Throw angle of Outlaw is medium, sponge is around 36-38 degrees

Rubber weight is a huge plus - 58 grams uncut and around 39 gram cut to normal head size blade

I have used Tenergy 05 before and compared to that, for me, Tenergy05 is much heavier, sponge more springy, harder, it is faster and much less controllable in short game. Spin - not much difference, Tenergy maybe higher. Long term might be different depending on Outlaw lastability

I need to play more matches with it and see how long it stays like this and see what the overall control and consistency is like on longer rallies but if other comments are anything to go by, it should last.  Im happy with it atmand  The other players at my club want to buy it now.

To sum up, its by far the best Chinese made rubber Ive ever used, as Cole's site says "speed is very good and spin is very good for a completely non tacky rubber. Well worth a try"

for $14 it is a bargain.

Well the sheet of UL I have on BH was supposed to be 40 degree sponge but they sent me 35 degree, no major problem but other versions of UL will be different to the one Im using, but based on observations so far, The Outlaw is definitely faster, and generates more spin and power when needed. The Throw of Inspirit UL feels a bit lower than Outlaw.

UL is very good for short game, probably slightly better than Outlaw due to it being a bit slower. UL is a good allrounder, I would say it compares well to Sriver EL, probably a bit faster. This is 1.8mm 35 degree on an allround/off- Balsa Blade.

If I could get Outlaw in 1.8 I would get some now for BH, but it feels a bit too fast at the moment for my game on BH but good for FH. I will stick with the UL on BH for now and report more on both rubbers performance when I have had chance to play more with it against other players.

This is my first experience of Gambler rubber, Im  impressed

I think that 1.8 (and 1.5) may exist. I have seen it advertised on Amazon's US site, but I don't think it is easy to buy from there as I kept getting redirected to the UK site and I couldn't find out who was selling it to get in touch direct. Zeropong don't sell it in that thickness though so who knows, it could be a mistake.

wow someone should make a list comparison of prices of rubbers around the globe, this 'top' rubber costs $14

for most top rubbers in the netherlands you have to pay 30-40+ euro's, which is almost $60!

and most cheap 'top' rubbers aren't even available in the netherlands....

I got the Outlaw 2.2mm and tried it on my FH yesterday.  It worked great on my FH.  Spinny and fast but very controllable.  However, the 2.0mm on BH seems a little fast for me to handle.  Perhaps 1.8mm might fit better on BH.  Again, for $14 it is worth a try.

i played one for a day with my new outlaw.... and after tenergy.. it seemed to be a downgrade in quality of shots. may be its still not at its full potential... and still have some tack...

it gives you more control on slow loops and loopdrives... but they get returned 4-6 times.. unlike tenergy which get returned only 1-2 times.

None of the other Gambler rubbers seem to be available in any thickness other than 2.0 and 2.2... so I doubt that they are producing Outlaw with "exotic" thickness sponge...
