the asian population in the markham / north toronto area can support more than one club... i mean, if they can support a FMP and a Pmall, a few more ping pong clubs should be no problem!
open more! - get more supermarkets to sponsor, chinese supermarkets are super.
but to put this in a seriously light, does table tennis have the potential to be a second generation Asian immigrant pass-time, or do the youths general see it as another "activity" their parents impose on them, like learning piano (music), going to kumon/abacus, saturday chinese school, going med school/law school/dentistry.
also, i would like to argue that second generation Chinese Canadians cannot become professional TT athletes, the reason being? - Most immigrant parents will only allow their children to play it as a "enhancing" sport, meaning, something to add to the development of their child; but the prospect of having their child drop out of school and to play ping pong for a living is something most immigrant parents cannot handle (they gave up too much for their kids to give up on a "better" life)
these are some reflections regarding some identity issues with second generations, it's interesting we can put a TT spin on it (nice pun?)
feel free to comment!

Also
the membership at the new CCTTA place is too inflexible! - You guys don't offer 4 months or monthly membership, which is not really that good for guys like me who are only in town for the summer (while being away at school for the rest). this most definitely deterred me from choosing CCTTA when I was looking for a club to play at this summer.

Stanley,
Its a good thought to have monthly membership as mentioned by henner. By the way do you have plans for another league?

Thank you for your ideas, henner and Sanjeev. As you know, the club is still young and we've just relocated to a wholely controlled full-time place, and also we're concentrating on the HK Cup, so we don't have enough time to work on other things. Volunteer wanted urgently.

We ordered 6 DHS Rainbow tables especially for the HK Cup tournament at York University, and also good for future tournaments. We then have 5 tables (T1223DH) which have been used twice in the FMP and CNE tournament only, for sale, at CAD600 (tax included). Contact me or Harvey if interested.
