I bought two LKT Pro sheets and the black is great.  Still tacky and real responsive.  The red sheet however has lost most of its grip/tackiness.  Anyone else see the same thing?

I would agree with u guys, but only on Chinese rubber. My red Sriver that I ve kept for almost 2 years, still has some gripness on it, and I just recently applied EE2 on it, see if the rubber can revive.

Yes, for all chinese rubbers the black is tackier than the red... it's related to the manufacturing process. Since most non-chinese rubbers are non-tacky to begin with, the effect is usually not noticable...

I had always thought that the black was simply softer than the red, so it was less grippy because of mechanical reasons.  I have never noticed that it was harder to keep a red side clean as compared to a black side.  What are you cleaning with?

my red 729 classic tacky rubber has lasted me for over a year now, still flypaper sticky, my dad's red 729 classic tacky rubber has lasted him over 10 years, of course there are dead spots on his rubber along the edges where the protective cover don't rid the air bubbles effectively, but it's still very sticky, and easy to graze loop with.  we both use water to clean.

The red dye they use alters the properties slightly, hence the reduced tackiness.

For the unpteenth time, this only applies to chinese rubber sheets, european sheets offer no differences whatsoever. in fact, in some cases, the ed sheet is more durable than the black one, the classic example being Stiga Mendo MP.

There is a scientific reason that deals with the manufacturing process that makes the black more tacky than the red. I can't remember exactly but I think it was to deal with the about of phosphorus in the red rubber that keeps the tackiness level down a bit. The chemical composition of black vs red rubbers are different due to the color. That makes the difference. It could possibly be countered through a better manufacturing process, still the rubbers are not exactly the same so there will always be a little difference between any 2 tacky sheets. Euro rubbers don't count because they are not manufactured to be tacky.

The black mambo (not grippy at all) is much better than the red one.. like one out of three red ones click, but all the black has a huge click.. Same goes with the samba..
