Hi Mini-
I would not go to Antispin unless you use a grip like Seemiller where you do not give up one wing for offence.
Anti can take the speed off a ball, reverse spin, flat hit hi balls but you cannot hit against topspin.
If you try to hit against topspin, especially a strong loop, the spin is turned into chop and the ball will curve UP.
It is easy to block a hard loop with anti and keep it low and short. It goes back as backspin.
Anti is the answer to returning spinny serves. They go back with mirror image spin. They get thier own spin back mirror image.
To realize full potential of anti, you must learn to twiddle.
Up to about (IMO) 1500 level, anti works good. Higher than that and players KNOW how to play against anti. I reached 1675 with anti and Seemiller grip 30 years ago but having switched to long pips, my game is better than ever and still learning about LP.
If you use anti with shakehands, you will loose offence on one wing. With Seemiller grip, you do not but the anti can be used at your choosing by twiddling. It works very well this way even at higher levels.
I used anti for over 30 years with Seemiller grip but have switched to long pips now. It can still reverse spin on blocks and easy hits but has the advantage of being able to still attack. Has enough grip on harder hits to get some topspin. Much bigger variety of shots can be made with long pips. LP is also very good for serve return.
I would not advise going to anti unless you use Seemiller grip or maybe penholder and twiddle.

Hookshot is right on the money. I do not have the experience he has, but have found the same to be true with Anti. LP is better; however, I have recently abandoned LP too and gone with SP (short pip) OX (no sponge). It's not as deceptive, but still have anti properties and easier to hit with. If I can get my skill level and experience up like hookshot I might start working on my LP game, but until that time I'm going with a fast spinny rubber on one side and a hard short pip on the other, like Friendship's Dr. Evil. I should mention that I also use Seemiller grip. This is an area that Seemiller + Penholder have a BIG advantage. We have an extra side, so to speak.
