    Posted: 08/03/2007 at 2:29pm
My game style is two winged looping combined with fast attacks, and I am looking for an offensive wood blade but have a tough decision to make selecting from the below list of blades as all of them enjoy a good reputation:
1. Avalox 777
2. Avalox 700
3. Stiga Clipper Wood WRB
3. Stiga Offensive Oversize WRB
4. Yasaka Extra 7
5. Yasaka Dynamix 17
Using an exclusion approach, I will exclude Yasaka Dynamix 17 from the cost perspective as it's the most expensive. Next is to exclude Yasaka Extra 7 as it's a little bit slower than the rest. I do not like the WRB handles (although I like the super core system) as they are easy to break. For this reason, Stiga WRBs sould not be taken into consideration. The final candidates are Avalox 777 and 700. If I am not wrong, 700 is stiffer than BT777 and is good for fast hitting and attacking. Since I do both looping and hitting, BT777 gives me the most felxibilty. So the award goes to Avalox BT777.

Guys,  am I right and logical making the decision?

Ur choices kinda match mine. Btn the last 2 Avaloxes,
I'll go for BT777.

You have two 3's, and they are the two that I would pick out of that list. I play the same style as you described.

if you have Yasaka on your list, why not consider the extra-3D?  check out the review @ tabletennis.gr

let's wait until professorchaos or Kennie comes in since they're the yasaka experts Star

I'd safely say dynamix 17 because it the biggest sweetspot among those blades you mentioned.
BTW try to compare non WRB with non WRB because WRB has a diff feeling...

Extra 7 is about 5.8mm in thickness which seems too thin. It has funny sound and easy to break (I saw one guy broke his Extra 7 when he hit the table). Dynamix is 7.1mm thick, may be too thick. I like the thickness between 6.2mm - 6.8mm.

What's wrong with WRB?
It feels good to me. If I had a non-WRB I would drill a hole through the bottom of the handle to lighten it.

i'm playing with ma lin carbon primarily, with the extra 7 as the mistress.  while nothing beats the ma lin carbon for me so far, extra 7 can definitely hold its own, my extra 7 is about 6.4mm unlike you mentioned, probably blade to blade difference or maybe because it's penhold.  it's mid-heavy weight, the way how i like it; nice traditional medium wood feel, unlike mlc's springy carbon feel, i don't find it slow at all, i imagine u were thinking extra, not the extra 7 when u were talking about it being on the slow side (never played with offensive oversized, but if it's anything like the offensive classic wrb, extra 7 is definitely faster than that).  if i were u, the final 2 candidates would be the clipper and extra 7; never played with clipper, but i've heard a lot about it being a great all wood blade.  and since i'm no fan of wrb, extra 7 would be my final answer =P
BL: Yasaka Ma Lin Extra Offensive CPen
FH: Haifu Blue Whale 2
BH: Nittaku Nodias

I'd take another look at the Dynamix 17 -- I find it counter loops and loop drives with authority that the Clipper and P700 can't touch

(Bear in mind that I am using glued H3.  If your using a bouncy fast soft rubber, the Clipper and P700 have more than enough power to be a handful.)

LoL I don't understand why it's easy to break because it's very hard!

I'd take a BT777 over a clipper. It's slightly faster.
Another one to consider is a bty Kong euro. They're slightly slower than the clipper though.

i like the stiga clipper wood without wrb or cr, it is good for looping. Slightly slow tho, but if u use h3, it won't matterSmile
Blade: Stiga Clipper Wood(84g)
Forehand Rubber: Hurricane 3- provincial verson
Backhand Rubber: Hurricane 3

It is better to play your opponent's weaknesses than to play your strengths...
