    Posted: 08/07/2007 at 5:59pm
I just bought a Butterfly Millenium glue.  When I got home and read the label, it says that that glue is only for the rubber, and that there's another glue for the blade.  What other glue is there?  Which one is it, and where can I get it?

Thanks.Smile

ok millenium chack(glue) is confuseing if you dont know what your doing. it is made to put acouple of layers on the rubbers sponge and then you use another type of glue like basic chack(rubber cement) to adhere it to the blade. the millenium chack is a long lasting speedglue. after you put it on the blade i found that it only had good effect for 3-4 days even though it claims to last alot longer. ps probably not somthing you should be doing becouse of the glue ban starting soon

Well, I AM a newbie that this whole gluing thing.  From where I bought the glue, that was the only one they have.  So, I thought that it must be the one then.  I guess I was wrong.

i wouldn't recommend you to speed glue either

especially when you're newbie on gluing...

if you can, sell it to somebody else and buy some glue sheet...

then you won't have to mess around with the glues...

Would you take it for the same price I bought it?

If I were to just buy a glue sheet, does it say how to use it?  And would it be hard to remove the rubber afterwards if I wanna change another rubber after awhile?

ordinary glue i.e bty basic chack or joola zoom will stick ur rubber ok +removal will be easier than with glue sheet, you have also got the option of using the millenium chack later, the glue sheet could destroy ur rubberDead when u remove(adhesion too strong) if you decide to use the millenium chack prime ur rubber with basic glue first.

Thanks.  Yea, I was thinking that the adhesion will make it hard to remove the rubber when the time comes.  So, I guess I just need to find the basic chack then!

I have 3 butterfly glue sheets and the instructions are on the sheets.  I have yet to use them but the instructions seem simple enough.  I have a new blade coming this weekend and I will venture using the glue sheets.  Anyone who has used them and has any tips, please chime in.

I have heard it is quite difficult to remove the glue sheet from the rubber.  However, if you do not speed-glue and play till the rubber needs to be replaced, then it will not be a problem, imo.

The main thing is Millenium is expensive and would be wasted on the blade.  So you apply it to the rubber and use something cheap like Elmers or other rubber cement on the blade.  As Millenium is a long lasting glue it takes a while to dry.

I see, well, I just bought the only glue that was available at the sport store.  Didn't really know the difference of glues.

Why you need to glue since most of the glues are banned?

I don't think there is any speed glue which has been approved. There may be some aqua glue that Joola has may be legal.

If there are no glue approved by ITTF, then, what kind of glue am I suppose to use for my blade and rubber?  (I don't want to use a glue sheet though).

Technically glue does NOT need to be ITTF approved for you to use it. ITTF approval just means they have tested the glue for substances that they have deemed to be illegal/banned.

Untill Sept 08 (or Jan 08 for juniors) you can continue using the same glues as you did before, as they will not test for VOCs. After that, they CAN test your bat for VOCs, so you either glue it up (normal glue) a long time before you play so that all the VOCs have evaporated, or you use a water based glue which simply does not contain any VOCs.

Thanks.

A few manufacturers are starting to come out with them now. The shop in my sig will carry all the Falco glues shortly, but I'm sure some of your more local online shops will carry them soon as well, which should save you some on shipping.
