My Cypress R and Speed 90 (both 9 mm thick)has a harder wood compared to my Kokutaku (special order 10 mm), that is when I tried to scratch the side of the blade with my nail lightly, there is no mark left on Cypress and Speed 90, but it does leave a mark on Kokutaku.
When using it, Kokutaku is much faster.
Can I make a conclusion that the soft single ply hinoki will be faster than the harder one?
Or is the Kokutaku faster because it is thicker ?

Did u use same pc. of rubber and equal amount of glue for 3 to come to ur conclusion?

It seems to me that K has better grain/quality of Hinoki wood, drier(less water still trapped in the wood), lighter (80g) K's wood could mean that it is from better part of the tree than the rest.

Size of the blade is the same, the rubber is the same and the glue is the same (I don't use speed glue).
Tiehwen, I see it from different angle, harder wood means it is denser,so for the same volume it will be heavier than the soft (less dense) wood.
