I am using Yasaka Extend & Extend SG for my FH. Both of them are very good; fast, poweful, and good control. SG is using soft sponge for speed glueing. I like both of them very much.

I've used Xtend before with Donic Waldner Diablo.
It is made in Germany, which is made by ESN. So it has TENSO technology like Tango, Moristo, C.O.R etc. The feeling is nealy the same as those TENSO rubbers. But Extend is exreamly soft. Also is has nice click sound! |

In addintion, SG has HARDER sponge than normal Xtend.
It aims that the softness of sponge of SG would be as same as the normal Xtend when speed glueing. |

I am using X-Tend for my forehand on a Sardius blade. It is a devastating attacking rubber with good control. Sardius is similar to Gergely in many ways and I think it will suit your blade. BUT, it won't last a month if you're a power hitter. WHY? The topsheet (inverted) pimples, especially in the middle, are easily detached from both topsheet and sponge creating a big swell at the center leaving your rubber useless. In my case, it lasts because I'm a control spinner but my friends put it on their BH to avoid another costly experience. So, it's up to you Sashok just weigh your options. This is only my experience. Good luck. Let us promote table tennis!

As I said, only if you're a power hitter (smash, full-power topspin). Of course, any rubber is unusable if it has a big swell in the middle even if it is only after a week. In my case, it lasts for 6 months and this is my third X-Tend. Again, this is what my co-clubmembers have experienced. They are power hitters, in fact, three of them are using this rubber on their BH. That's their case and surely, yours is different. Cheer up man!

Rubber sheet is same, X-tend SG uses softer sponge for glueing. Speed glue version of rubbers uses soft sponge for maximum stretching. I am a hard hitter. X-tend rubber did not swell in the middle. Instead, middle area was getting clouded. Probably, my brade is soft and shock absorbed arylate-carbon. I changed to the new X-tend SG rubber ( though I don't use speed glue) after 3 months of use.

No.
YASAKA says SG has HARDER sponge! It's true. SG doesn't aim more speed glue effect like other rubbers, ex sriver fx. Speed glueing makes soften the sponge of SG in order to same hardness of the sponge of normal Xtend! |

i have xtend rubber and its been my rubber of choice for a while. Its really soft and loopy. If you touch it it doesnt seem very grippy but man it sure does a good job of looping. I love the rubber but its very fragile.

Is the xtend and xtend SG faster and spinnier than the V-stage? Yasaka seems to place the two rubbers below V-stage in terms of performance.

I see. Thanks. Always found the Vstage a tad hard to control for touch shots, even though the speed is much appreciated.

Have any of you Extend users used Donic F2? If so how would you compare the 2? I am using F2 and like it alot. Very clicky, and spinny on loops. I was thinking of trying Extend. I am looking for a little more control.

I am using a 1.8 black Extend HS on my forehand at the moment. The sponge feels a bit hard to me; I am used to sponges in the 35-38 degree range. This rubber is definitely for the big hitters and is not for me. I am willing to trade/sell if you are interested; it is just about a week old. PM me if interested.

Just to clear things up about Yasaka XTEND rubbers: Normal XTEND is the softest of the 3 versions, its not for speedglueing but has great speed, spin and sound without glue. XTEND SG is just a little bit harder, but for speedglueing so i suggest you to try normal XTEND or XTEND HS, because of the new glue rules. XTEND HS is harder than the two other, its medium hard, like Mark V but much faster and spinnier without glue. It really has great built-in effect. It has good sound but normal XTEND has even more sound. The rubbers are made in Germany like other Tensor rubbers, Donic, Andro etc. and have similar playing characteristics. Though, I have not tried a tensor rubber that has so good speed, spin like XTEND and XTEND HS without glue. I dont agree they die fast. I think they keep the effect really long and the grip is very good for many months. |

To start my non-gluing era I got Xtend HS Max and 2.2. Coming from Bryce I do not think the sponge is firm at all. Pretty soft IMO, though firmer than normal Xtend. I'm surprised that Yasaka markets the sheet the way they do as a spin machine when what it really is is one of the best tensors on the market.

Need some feedback on Xtend / Xtend HS. Has anyone been using either one on the BH?
How do they handle short balls? Too bouncy? Control?
How about blocks vs loops - can u feel the ball?
How about looping or counter-looping off the bounce? How good is the grip?
And - my acid test- how easy is it to loop (pick up) vs a short underspin serve?? [This is the main reason I won't use Bryce]
I'm looking into trying, without glue, Xtend or Xtend HS, Joola Energy Xtra, and ???
Any other feedback is welcome.

i switched from using mark v fh and bh on a bty mazunov blade to using xtend max on both sides on a joola kool and noticed a big different in speed, spin and less control when blocking. xtend doesnt last that long - very brittle, one bit of the top sheet fell off when i accidentally hit the tables edge. it's soft and gives you more spin and more ball dwell time when looping. pushing is also good i guess. imo counter looping is also good with this blade but i need to learn to hit it the right way first , when i do get my shot right it does feel good hehe. i think its too thick for me though with my current set ups, since joola kool is already thick blade. oh and about the bh, its a bit too quick + spinny for me on the backhand - i can hit my bh fast and that combined with xtend means the ball usually goes out of the table!

After about 6 months when last wrote about Xtend HS I would have to say it provides good power for the loop without glue. However, I have found the short game to be weaker (service included) due to a ungrippy topsheet and bouncy sponge. You really need to sink the ball into the sponge to get the spin.

Mildseven,
Thanks for your very useful comments!
I'm still looking a for forehand rubber that achieves what you're looking for. Sadly - it means I still need to glue, or, use the Tibhar CTE (even though CTE is becoming almost as big a pain as gluing!)

I also forgot to note that the topsheet remains delicate. Also using this rubber I have problems bottoming out the sponge on hard flat hits where the ball sinks down to the wood. This happened with the older regular Xtend as well but never happened with Bryce. So, that should give people an idea of how soft the hardest Xtend is.
