Hi all!

Want to know how the Coppa gold/silver are. They have build in glue, but haven't really liked inbuilt glue rubber because of the hardness... They are to soft, but I have read that Coppa gold/silver should be about medium hard. I'm using Donic J.O waldner on my fh, with speed glue(2layers) and Sriver FX on BH(2layers), and have plans to change to Coppa gold or silver on both sides... How can u compare Donic J.O with speedglue to Coppa gold/silver? Hardness? Speed? Control?

Thank you

When have you ever played with a glue-built-in rubber?

Bordtennisfreak,

I have been playing with Coppa Gold for 3 weeks now.  I use to play with DHS H3.  So I can give you some comparison on this.

First of all, Coppa Gold is softer than H3.  H3 is about 41/42 degree for the commercial edition.  Coppa Gold feels like 39/38 degree to me.

The top sheet of Coppa is not that grippy.  So it makes the over the table loop shots harder while the H3 will make those shots easier because of the tacky surface.

Coppa plays very well at a medium distance and long distance from the table.  The rubber can pack a punch if you hit it right.  Since the rubber is medium soft, it makes the off the table loop very easy.

In terms of serving the ball, the Coppa Gold is a bit harder to generate spin because the top sheet is not that grippy.  So you need to swing your wrist more to generate the spin while the chinese rubber will let you just graze the ball to generate the spin.

Coppa Silver is just a softer version of the Gold.  So it will be slower.  But it may make the looping a bit more easier as well.

Overall, I haven't pass my verdict on the rubber yet.  The speed glue effect is there.  And it seems to stay there after 3 weeks of play.  But it doesn't sound as loud as the F3 BigSlam, which I am playing with it on my backhand.

I am not sure that I will stick with it yet.  I will give it a good 2 months and a tournament to try this.  So far, it doesn't have the wow factor where I will say that it is the best rubber.

I have also ordered the Joola Energy Xtra to try.  Yes, the extra US$55 really hurts.  But I just have to try it at least once.  So I will try this one after the Coppa Gold wears off.

Anyway, hope this helps.

The Coppa silver sponge is a fair but softer compared to the gold, but there is only a slight difference in speed. I've tried the Silver and it was fast, felt quite similar to a glued up mark V 30deg, although a little firmer and does not bottom out as easily. Both generate a huge amount of spin.

Alfie,

I bought in US Paddle-palace.  Do you know how well Dandoy ship to US location?  Are they reliable?  This will save me a lot if I decide to stick with the Energy Xtra.  Thanks.
