.seal blade edge or edge tape

	If i seal the edge of my blade or use edge tape will it change the feel of your racket.

	Probably not. Would suggest sealing the edge, it more permanent and you don't have to deal with edge tape.

	no not at all but i dont understand the use of sealing the edge, isnt sealing allowing the rubber to peel of easier and edge tape is actually protection the edge from getting chipped when hit on the table?

	Sealing the blade face is to avoid splintering, and it is applied lightly, whilst sealing the side (the thickness) of the blade is done properly ( more heavily, I do it until it gets shiny), and it will make the side of the blade harder and so it is stronger against possible impact, and it has the same function with the side tape, only you have to take off the side tape everytime you change the rubber.

	Seal it and use side tape. Protect your blade. Many players worry just like you, but in truth, blades are NOT that perfectly constructed. Even the best, i.e. Nittaku Acoustic, etc vary from blade to blade. One is 78grams and the other is 92 grams. So, the whole scientifically balanced thing is B.S.! Protect your blade. The edge should be HEAVILY sealed. It almost has NOTHING to do with playing, but it does protect the playing surface. Think of it like you would a car bumper. Does it effect the driving? NO. But, it does protect the body of the car from damage. weeoooooooo Aeoliah has also given some good words above. Be well.

	Minwax, fast drying Polyurethane, clear semi gloss works great!!! One coat protects the blade well but I use 3 lightly sanded. Nice finish. I have done one of a pair of the same blade with the same rubber applied and I can't tell them apart. No one else I let try could either. Actually I have tried this with 3 different pairs of blades. One pair I did one blade with 5 coats. There was just the slightest difference in sound and it was "possibly" a little faster. Lots of people will warn you you will change the blade but not many have tried it them selves. I use fast setups and it may show more with slow setups but I can't feel the diff. Other players couldn't seperate them by how they played either. I have seen Tommys seal jobs and some are slick and smooth like mine. Can you detect any change after sealing Tommy???
