Hi all, just wondering how the Stiga Offensive Classic WRB compares to the Yasaka Extra in terms of speed, feel, weight, and anything else significant. I'm planning on using this for penhold. Current setup is Yasaka Extra w/ H3 forehand and Sriver FX backhand. I'm hoping that the OC is going to be a bit faster than the YE but I've read somewhere that it's actually slower, so what's up with that? Thanks.

These two blades are VERY different in weight and feel. For example, Yasaka Extra is thicker and heavier. I have both with identical rubbers on them. Come over and try 'em out. LOL. :-). I think the Yasaka has better contol and more suited for blocks, but the Stiga seems to be better for loops and spinney serves. They are both two of the best blades for under $40.00. I am selling the Yasaka. It's like new. It's lovely. But, I have 20 blades . . . only need a 2 or 3.

For penhold, YE is better, according most rating in chinese table tennis forums.

Thanks tommyzai, so would you say that the OC has harder plies or softer plies than the YE? And isn't it popular consensus the YE is the best for looping because of its flexibility and soft feel? Don't know, just speculating. I've played with the YE for a year now, but haven't used that many other classic cpen blades so I'm thinking of giving the OC wrb a shot since it's on sale at ping-pong.com.

I own an OC wrb for almost 2 years. Its quite faster than the yasaka extra, the feel disconsidering the wrb handle isn't too diferent and by the rubbers you use if not in the first hours it will be pretty controlable in a week or a mounth. I just think that for the penhold style the regular handle would be better in spite of the increase of weight in relation to the wrb version.

I have used both for a long time. YE is slower and more stable, very suitable for allround player. If you play close to the table, this is a great blade for over the table looping and short game. OC is faster and vibrates more compared to YE. With the same stroke I can land more shots when looping with OC at mid distance than with YE.
