    Posted: 10/11/2007 at 2:00am
I just got my xiom RSM platinum 1 ply hinoki blade from affordablett (good price and fast shipping from AU to the US). Played with it for two days and really like it.
It is fast, powerful when you need it, and also with pretty good control.

I have Darker speed 90 10mm. Butterfly Cyperss Max 10mm, and Xiom RSM platinum is my third hinoki blade. My feeling is that RSM > Darker SP90 > Cyperss Max.

Darker SP90 is a bit on the soft and control side. Cypress Max is very fast, but I found it is hard to control, and I just do not find I like using it somehow.

Acong, good to see it arrived in Perfect condition, I hope you enjoy it. I took the time to pack it well, so it wouldn't get damaged.

The case that the XIOM blades come in is cool, with their little magnets, and all.

Cheers mate

Thanks Rob for the perfect packing. I really appreciate that.

Xiom's case is indeed cool. Almost made me feel I should not play with it and but display instead.

My camera was sent to Germany for factory service. Let me see if I can find some other camera today or tomorrow.

The wood grain is about the same as Darker's. It is very dense in the middle.

(sigh of relief) Thank you, I am glad that this is not another temptation for me and my kind who is looking for light blade Smile
Tiehwen, you and I have the same weakness towards good single ply blades. Is there no cure ?

Nope, No cure @ all, it's already too late now..but I like the "feeling" though, constantly being seduced by these "heavenly" pc. of Craftworks, enjoy the feeling of my breath being taken away whenever I see the "NEXT one".
While we r @ this "subject", It'll even make me feel better n satisfied by hunting the rest of u jpens lovers down, 1 by 1 n yank the "ONE" I wanna keep for myself from ur hands, I probably start from U 1st, Aeoliah, KingNike12's latest Darker, MalvinC, Ryno n etc. etc....

Very good! Better keep the nice blade and don't sell it (I'm keeping mine). Our second generation might appreciate it later.

it's a champion hinoki gold racket for around 80-85 US dollars. From the picture it looks decent but probably not the best quality wood. It is no where compared to the kokutaku, nittaku or darker rackets.

Champion used to be a distributor and not a manufacturer. I wonder if they can make good blade without sufficient experience, or the other possibility is to have it produced by somebody else, like China..

they have been producing blades since 1983, and xiom tends to have better quaility of blade on similar price range...

Champion are the Owners of XIOM.

Xiom are their premium range of products.

Thank you for the information. So if we want a better quality we should go to Xiom (I am still anxious to receive news from Rob for 75 grams RSM Platinum or Giga PlatinumWink)

Funny, I wish I could, I have 2 more comming. But dont know how much they will weigh.

I could always fill them with Helium, to make them lighter, or better still buy a pair of cheap scales that read wrong.LOLLOLLOL

i'm not sure...

but when 10mm hinoki blade is 75gram...

i don't think it will be POWERFUL as other blades that weights about 90gram..

lighter the blade, less power...

i like jpen, because i can kill the balls!

come on,

i use 90gram jpen with two rubbers on each side...

I agree, the heavier the blade, generally the more power that is able to be transfered to the ball, but I think that the weight must have something to do with people's elbows or wrists hurting.

Laymans term its called Tennis ELBOW, but in fact it part of the Tendinitis syndrome, where the overuse of tendon's in the forearm cause inflammation and pain.

Sometimes its caused by heavy equipment, sometimes overuse.

if you want to make 90gram jpen to 81.5 gram blade...

remove all the cork sheets on your back side of blade...

i removed all the corks to place rubber, then i weighted my blade again for fun,

and it lost about 8.5 grams..

To a certain point, different quality of wood plays a role, apart from the weight. My Kokutaku (80 grams) is noteably faster than my Speed 90 (84 grams).
I like light blade because if I use heavy one, I develop arm pain (not at the elbow).
