This is not a serious topic.I'm just curious.

My friend bought this one from internet.

The seller state that it's a japanese hinoki.

I see that its grain is so thick and I've never seen something like this

before.

The question is.......

Is this a real kiso hinoki from japan (maybe it's a cheap one) or

it's another species which is similar to kiso hinoki ?

Thanks in advance.

tats a coarse hinoki . the grains are not even mostly straight.

i cant tell if its Hinoki from Japan's Kiso region. but i think not.

if its from Kiso, it will be indicated on the blade face. it'll usually be from a japanese tt brand.
the other brand that have kiso hinoki is Xiom, from my knowledge.

another thing is abt Kiso Hinoki use in tt equipment is that the grains are finer, not as thick as the blade u have.

That is an 1-ply regular wood blade and costs 7.95 from Presports. I hope your friend did not pay much more.

It's a Blutenkirsche B3005 1-ply pine.  I should know because I have one, and it smells like pine.  Would make a nice ornament for a Christmas tree.
