The D1H definately has good auto-focus and is built really well. However it's old and has a sh*tload of noise at any ISO higher than ISO800. I would personally suggest you go with Canon, or save up some money and get that new Nikon D300..but so expensive! My vote goes to: Used Canon EOS 20D or 30D and a 85mm f/1.8 or 100mm f/2.0 lens. Should keep you beneath 1000USD I think. and a EF-S 18-55 IS kitlens for walk-around use. |

err..the 20D/30D both perform better at high ISO, the Nikons also loose more detail at high ISO. Also a second hand 20D can be bought for 550USD incl. a kit lens, the 30D is a little more expensive: used it's about 700USD, the 85 1.8 and 100 2.0 both sell for 350-400USD. 2K? I don't think so.. Also the D1H wouldn't be a wise purchase. It has like 2,72MP (gee no wonder it has low noise hahaha). It can shoot 5fps (so can the 20D and 30D). Fast draining battery (unlike the Canon battery of the 20D/30D). and it's also no light weight at 1.1KG (body only) while the 20D and 30D weigh 0.8KG. If you want the good AF and superb built quality however, I'd rather suggest you buy the Canon 1D, same price, released around the same time back in 2001. But has even better AF, 4MP and for sports Canon is a better platform anyways.. |
