My guess :  the rectangular receptacle is for the handle of your blade, whilst the blade face should be resting on the flat surface.
I don't have any idea about the oval one, it does not seem to be deep enough to accomodate balls.

shakehand handles cannot stay in the rectangular groove...only j-pens have such a thick wood handle this cant even hold the bat still in the case...noway its a really bad design

yeah, those BTY cases with the formed box is pretty useless for shakehand paddles.  I have the XIOM ones below and they work great.  The rectangle one is a bit bulky but the smaller racket shaped one is great.

Rubber Sheet: Whatever still has some grip.

Interesting, I store my shakehand blade with that no problem. I don't know, I will try with other handle than ST, see if those fits.. all my blades fits no problem.

PS: according to the butterfly, the mystery box is made of some material that avoids surfact scratch on your rubber

AH.. I see. yes. that problem might happen... Butterfly uses their blade handle size for that gap... most of the japanese blade have smaller handles.. that is why it might not work with other brand...

no shakehand handles are thick enough to fill in that gap so the bat willnot move anyway

It's coming along nicely, I loop a lot more, instead of chopping , i guess only thing i am having a hard timedoing is blocking, which i try to avoid but sometimes you just can't avoid being on the backfoot and block.
