What do you consider the optimum weight for your setup?  I tend to like mine light, perhaps lighter than most, I think.  I just bought a Phalanx II and was able to get one that weighs 82.5 grams.  I just put 2.0 mm Six Shooter on both sides, and the total weight of the setup is just under 160 grams.  I haven't played with it yet, but it feels really good in my hand, light and nicely balanced.

I've had setups over 180 in the past, and I just don't seem to be quick enough with them (maybe if I had better footwork it wouldn't matter).  I think 170 grams is the max I would want my setup to weigh, but I think alot of folks like to go to 180 or higher.  What's your preference and why?

really it depends on a lot of things
it comes down to your style of game as well as the sizo of the sweet spot on your blade
personnaly im able to adapt to the weight of the blade as idont consider it to be a key issue in my game
however i know a lot of people have problems playin with blades that are either to light or heavy this really comes down to feel of teh bat
but as i say i believe that after a few weeks you wont even notice and if you do i tink really just looking for excuses elsewhere in equipment rather than your own game

i have a problem when my set up is too light, than too heavy. I like my blades around 90-100 grams shake or jpen and rubber sheets really do not matter i have tried them all from the lightest to the heaviest doesn't really effect my swing. we are talking grams not pounds.I had made a 12mm shakehand blade a while ago that weighed 150g just for the blade and i had h3 on both sides it was around 250 grams total it was too fast but i had no problem swinging it.250 grams is just over 1/2 a pound

Hi,

The best weight for me is 175 up to 195 grams. When it is lighter, I have no Power in my Shot's. When I use heavier Racket's I can't react at the table.

Kolev,
Your blade must be really light because I am using two 2.0mm rubbers on a 77g blade and it = 162g.

I just weighed my 999 on 2.0 and it's 66g uncut. YIKES!! No matter how light of a blade I get the setup will be heavy. The manufacturers need to create lighter faster sponges, IMO.

His blade is supposed to be about 80g.  The rubbers he is using are all light, but I suspect his blade is under 80g by a few grams

Yeah, 66g uncut is pretty heavy.  I prefer mine to be 50-55 uncut, preferably low 50s.

Best setup I ever used was 154g, and the balance was spot on.  I can handle more weight as long as the setup isn't head heavy.  Even a light setup can feel like a redwood to me if the handle is small.

Current setup is 145gr, a bit on the light side but feels good, allows fast motion, lacks stability but not power...

My blades were meant to be 78-80gr and I personally bought the first  in Vroco-it was(amasing) 70gr,....worshiped it..Embarrassed, then I ordered one from UK, asking for the lightest they have, so I got the anorexic 68gr-one.It was more than a EURO per gram......

My current setup weighs around 125 gr (carbon j-pen blade + 729 faster (max) rubber on FH). ideal weight to switch between FH & BH grip quick.
