Just wondering if anyone tried the Avalox rubbers.
Avalox Pronte $24.
Avalox Sterco (tensioned)$32.
Since they use Jap sponges, do they play like Jap rubbers or like H3? Wei Wang did incredible well recently in international play against Chinese women (did she used Sterco?). And her game is so simple and straight forward. It's very tempting to try them.

tried the pronte (soft)and found the throw angle too high for me,you need a very closed blade angle,i couldn`t adjust,it is nice and tacky and good for serve,i went back to the venus which has `all the gears `the pronte is slower than the venus

Pronte sounds good with a stiff blade.

I have tried the pronte(medium and hard sponge).. i prefer the medium sponge because it feels more like chinese rubber when it comes to gluing but the hard sponge become quite soft once i glued it.

I tried a sheet of Sterco on several blades, I found it to be very unpredictable in behavior.  All the blades I tried it on were fast and stiff, all but one was carbon.  Maybe this rubber would be a better fit on a flexible 5 ply all wood blade.  I am not likely to try it again on any blade personally.

I had a go with Pronte regular sponge years ago, about 20 mins of top spin rallying with someone else's sheet on my blade.  Very strong feeling sheet with high throw and strong spin. I was accustomed to Mark V and Mendo at the time and had a bit of difficulty adjusting to the sticky top sheet of Pronte.  I also was using a late contact time with my fh loop.

The spin was strong whether I caught the ball correctly or not, but when it was wrong enough the ball went long.  As I corrected racket angle and contact time the loops became very sweet, with perfect contact being rewarded with a very speedy drive coming off of medium speed stroke.
I didn't really get a full insight of this sheet, but I had the impression if this sheet had more than two gears, low and high, I definitely would need plenty of drill time in order to learn how to find them.
I thought Pronte had great spin in all situations, and was capable of producing terrific kill loops, and seemed good for blocking to me.  Probably due to my being unfamiliar with it I had some difficultly with rallying.

Pronte is one sheet that I am always thinking I should try again.

I tried the Sterco on a Stiga Energy wood, and my conclusions were pretty much like penguin's... For a rubber where the topsheet does not feel that grippy it produces a huge amount of spin...

Thanks everyone for their reviews. Sound like Sterco is much like IQ or Jap rubbers and pronte is like H3. One for the bh one for fh, Santa?

(thanks to Penguin I also found the review of Pronte by lawOCG here if anyone is interested: http://oneofakindtrading.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1334)
