I recently watched a doubles video of Japan's Mikie Tasei and Haruno Fukuoka in doubles match. What I don't understand is that they both play very offensively, and buterfly says Tasei uses LP's ( feint soft) on her BH, while Tasei also stated in an interview that it was helpful in one doubles match that Haruno used LP's on on he BH also. My question is, how do you use long pips offensivelt and is it effective.

If you play close to the table, you can attack. Look at some Dr.Nuebaur videos. Though the rubbers he uses are frictionless, you can do the same with friction ones. Look at the videos of Richard McCafee. You will see how they attack with LP. The players you mentioned are more athletic, and they can do the attack with class.

I love attacking with long pips. You can't do attacks away from the table.

Grippy long pimples with a thicker sponge are generally easier to attack with.

There is a lot of (not that many though :P) people who use LP's for offplay..

Feint soft isn't the longest pips around, and they are grippy with a soft sponge.. so they should work nicely for off-players..

A really good player with LP's on bh: Deng Yaping, prly the most complete female player ever..

it's difficult but you can use lp for offensive play. As for its effectiveness, it is very effective at amature level simply because the main stream are pip in rubber loop drive and most players are not used to LP ball.

But at pro high level, there is no place for LP: It does not have any of the 3 key elements of modern tt, i.e., power, speed, spin
