I have not watched his game. What are his strengths and weaknesses?

I didn't watch him enough to tell.
Maybe someone else could say.

his play in that game does not suggest he is anywhere close to being a 2200 player...

He's NOT a 2200. He's a 2300!
And that one was the worst game he ever played!!! He played much better after that.

5th game - it's not that easy to beat a 2300. He knew how to adjust after down 0-2!!!

One of the few Indian-origin youngsters playing at a high level in North America. The only others I can think of offhand are Nadmichettu and Viswananthan.

What about me ? I'm kidding!
Shashin Shodhan is in the top 50 I think. Go to usatt.org, and look at the CA state list. |

Good game against Amaresh! I would say he just doesn't have a lot of patience for a game against your technique...
I noticed that a lot of youngsters are always in a hurry, they don't even give themselves a couple of seconds to think before they serve... |

If I could become more younger
I have met many Indian young kids in tournaments who have taken this game seriously. |

Thanks for posting the match! He's an excellent player with a great temperament. I'm happy to say I beat him the one and only time we played, back in 2003. He was only 2145 then, but still...It would be much tougher to defeat him now! You didn't do too badly.

That's good to hear. It is true that there are many noticeable Indian names( Vyas, Patel, Gupta) at tournaments in the US. Unfortunately, very very few of them are high level. We can hope that some of them will become top notch, and no doubt a few will.
