I'm building a scaled down table for my seven-year-old daughter (3.5x6.3') out of 1" MDF and laminated blue top (black edges and bottom) and using steel fold-up sawhorses for legs.  This size is good for my daughter and yet the pieces are small enough for me to man-handle for easy set-up and take-down.  I'm just going to use one white line down the middle due to the size.  I'm using laminate only to make it more durable and so I can use it for other purposes around the house and have easy clean-up.  I know that the formica laminate will be too slick (used them in college), but it's good for her for now.
I'm curious, what is your best measurement of the bounce (according to USATT or ITTF rules for tables)?

Its pressed partical board......

%$#@ the robots!!!

play your friends, practise at home, practise with your friends and go get the trophies!

Please tell  us: did you decide NOT to have a robot?

can you tell us why what you do is better than having a robot at home?

Thank you.

the tournament tables are made of MDF
middle density fiberboard..
the top quality table are made of 1inch thick board.
mine was made of 3/4inch thick ,
homedepot and lowes carry MDF up to 4'X8'
i purchased two pieces 5X9 (if i remember right)
from a lumber yard, and cut them to proper size.
i use the chalk board paint, which come with green
or black..

Hey dealfanz how is that chalk board paint working. I've heard different things about it some say that its too rough and grips the ball too much.  What have you noticed?
