I'm looking for a small TT table for my seven-year-old daughter to use (and her little friends when they visit) so that they don't feel too tempted to use the new, larger table. I know I've seen pics of them somewhere, but I can't remember where I saw them. Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to spend much on this, and don't want a full-sized table.

Thanks! I found the Andro table here: http://www.ping-pong.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?preadd=action&key=RT229&reference=/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi%3Fsearch%3Daction%26keywords%3DttTable%20not%20accessory%26searchstart%3D30%26template%3DTemplates/SearchResult.html
The problem is that the Andro table is $180, which is very expensive for something for a seven-year-old. I'm hoping to keep the price around $100 or less.
I also found this Stiga for just a little less:
I'm beginning to think that maybe I should just make one.

Yeah, at least then I could choose the color scheme and even use a 1" top. BTW, are the tops made of MDF or HDF?

Look on Craig's List. Do a search for Ping Pong and you will find plenty of kids' 4(or whatever other number)-in-1 game tables that usually include ping pong. Then they'll have even more games to play. You can usually find them for $50 to $75.

Do you have a link for Craig's list? I've never heard of this one before.

If the kid is 4 or 5yo or younger try a 4'x2' board (home depot). Find a few coussins for your knees . Also have 100 balls or so so on your left in a box if you are righty. Serve with your BH by hitting the ball after it bounces on the table (easier on the kid), blocking with your BH most of the time.
CUDDLE YOUR KID ON GOOD SHOTS OR ON A DRILL THAT IS WELL DONE (like bh, fh bh, fh...3 or 4 times in a row while bouncing on feet)!!!
A 4 yo kid's favorite drill is BH footwork FH footwork BH footwork and....SMASH!!!!!
If the kid's a bit older (5 1/2 or 6) then the 8'x4' board (home depot will cut it in 2 at no charge for you) works just great.
I think the key is to have the table at the height of the kid's hips (roughly) to try recreating an adult setup (footwork & strokes).
Of course the above is far to be perfect but it's VERY cheap and it does not last very long: when the kid is 7 (s)he is ready to move on the real thing and the home depot tables pile up in the basement against the stairs.
REMEMBER: My (and I guess your) favorite time is to go out with friends after going to the club and talk about table tennis while eating.
SO DO THE SAME WITH YOUR KID(S): after you play table tennis with them take him or her or them for pizza, taco del mar or anything like that THEY WILL LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They will associate TT with very special time with their parent and I think a happy TT player can be made that way .

Thanks for the great tips, Fatt. Actually, your post was very suitable since this is about bringing my 7 1/2-year-old more into the sport while preserving the life of my new table (hopefully saving it some bangs and damage over the years).
I was going to make the table a 3' x 5.5' (scaled down from standard 5x9') to make the size more managable for me when I set up and take down the table for her. What wood should I get? MDF or HDF? Do you think I should even go as far as to laminate the top with formica? (I know we had this type in our college dorms! Talk about fast and slick!)

I forgot what I bought and I could not figure it out by looking at the 2 4x4 boards. However it did not cost me more than $30 for the whole board. I thought painting the board was totally useless for the purpose of learning strokes and drills.
To support the boards I used 2 matching old night stands that were sitting in the garage. We learned very quickly not to touch the table with the free hand or body as it was not super stable.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys! This is great! Actually, I'm sitting here in my wife's craft room / office / computer room where our daughter does her homework, I look over my left shoulder and under all these books is a table that measures 3x5'. I could simply put a net on this, but to make it more inspiring, I'm going to get two pieces of MDF and have them laminated with a beautiful blue color and paint white lines on them and put small rubber "feet" under the pieces. I have an extra net, so I can put a little larger table on it (like 3.5' x 6.3'). The table is already very sturdy and at the perfect height. So I think I've got it! Thanks a bunch guys for all the ideas and direction. BTW, for those reading this that don't have a table this size, you might could find one cheap at a local yard sale and just convert it for a game room or get the materials and build it.
