    Posted: 02/25/2008 at 12:27pm
In an emergency a couple of weeks ago I had to use this to glue my rubbers to the blade, and I tried using a credit card (which works OK for normal tt glue / rubber cement).  But it made a horrible mess, and I had to use my finger to try to even it out; even then, the glue job was nasty and I was fortunately able to remove all the glue from the rubbers that night.

Anyway, I need to use water chack again for somebody else's blade/rubbers, and I don't have the Butterfly "SmooSpo" which Bty recommends you use for applying the chack.

My question is, can I use a regular paint brush to apply it? Can it be applied evenly enough with a paint brush?

Hi!
Let us a common sense here!!
When we used speed glue we take some care about how we handle it becouse it have chemicals, and solvent and vapors that can make injuries in your skin, hands or eyes.....  wright!!!!   Then they recomend to use VOC free products for healty.
The new glues are supose to be VOC free,  means they are more safety for your health.....  taking this words like true!!!
I  think in case that you don't have the Butterfly "SmooSpo" that they recomend you can use whatever tool inclusive the finger, but after you finish whash your hands and the paint brush to use it again.  The paint brush can acumulate more product inside and you waist the valuable glue (becouse it is very expensive $$$$).
I think you can use cotton balls also, remember use something that you does not waist to much glue.

Hope this help you.

I glued it just before any of the replies here, and used a paint brush. The results were very good.

I was actually doing this for a friend of mine. I had to move one rubber over to a different blade, and the rubber was already attached with water chack. I was surprised at how easily and cleanly the rubber came off the blade; there was practically no glue residue on the sponge.

Using the paint brush, it's actually an advantage that the water chack takes so long to dry, because it's easy to keep spreading the glue until you have it nice and even. After that it took about 15-20 min to dry fully (it becomes transparent when dry).

So, I changed my mind about water-based glues - they're not nasty at all when used properly.

I used butterfly water chack to stick a rubber on my blade today which Id had a slight problem doing using the remnants of my Basic Chack which had got a bit "bitty". One corner was not sticking down after a few tries so I Peeled the whole rubber off, peeled the basic chack off the rubber (surprised how easy the whole lot came off) gave a light sanding on the blade edges and used the smoospo to put the water chack on the  rubber then blade, waited 6 mins (after putting the water chack on the rubber)when it looked semi transparent and then it stuck easily. I followed the info at

http://www.gotabletennis.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BF7WC20&Show=TechSpecs

1.Put WATER CHACK on a rubber sponge and a blade. A rough idea of the quantity is a line of 10 centimeters for a rubber and 7 centimeters for a blade. A tube can be used for about 5 sets of rubbers and blades.

2.Spread the glue evenly on the sponge and the blade with a sponge such as SMOOSPO. It will dry more quickly on blades than on sponges, so rub rubbers before blades

3. After leaving them for 5 to 10 minutes, stick the rubber with the blade. Stick them when the white WATER CHACK becomes half transparent. Be careful not to attach them when the glue is half dry or let it be dried off.
