High guys!
What thickness do you think is the best for this rubber : 2.0 or max? Anybody know what thickness is the sponge of the rubber that Jan Ove Waldner plays with? Which one is better Nittaku J.O.Waldner or Donic J.O. Waldner, or are they the same? Is Nittaku Nodias the same as Nittaku J.O. Waldner? Thanks |

JO during his prime played with 2.0 on both sides
I played with max and it was a great all-around rubber (played without glue though) Nittaku's JO Waldner has a harder sponge and grippier topsheet if i remember correctly. Donic's sponge is softer. Nodias is not the same as JO Waldner |

I use the 2.2 Nittaku JO Waldner both sides and I have also used Donic JO Waldner 2.0. Both are really good. The donic version is harder and a bit less elastic. The Nittaku version is softer and more elastic. I also don't glue anymore. 2.2 without glue is alot better for looping. I would recommend the donic version if you hit harder. The Nittaku version bottoms out pretty easily.

both are the same. some variation on hardness can be noticed on every brand.

I glued 2 sheets of Nittaku Waldner onto a Galaxy T2, the Black was 47 grams cut red 42 grams cut, both 2mm. Didnt play it though sponge was pretty firm. So Id suggest stick to 2mm if you want to keep your bat a medium weight

i beg to disagree but the nodias is the jo waldner replacement according to my supplier who went to talk with the donic and nittaku company representatives..
waldner used max on both sides for the jo waldner rubber when the ball was changed to 40mm.. also he is not using jo waldner as his fh rubber anymore but only in his bh now.. he uses sonex jp as his fh rubber now |

yes it is though its a bit softer than the original jo waldner if you look closely at the rubber and also play with it you will notice the similarities

Waldner plays max, but he is not always using the Waldner-rubber.. He has been testing some sonex JP and f1 rubbers.
I bought 2 sheets of Donic JO Waldner Max with a ST Waldner senso carbon. I had to glue the rubbers a LOT to get any click, but I guess I was a bit unlucky with the quality of my sheets.
The Nittaku JO waldner is a bit softer and more elastic. Finn Tugwell from Denmark uses the Donic JO waldner for FH and the Nittaku JO waldner for BH on a clipper blade. He is sponsored by Nittaku :P

yes you're right jo waldner is not a loud rubber only if it's glued/tuned up heavily it's quite loud. But sound is not important. It's about speed and spin.

So how's its speed spin if untuned? Can it be played untuned? I'm asking because I'm playing some sriver fxes max and when I tune them they become too thick, the total thickness is about 5 mm, which is not approved by ITTF. So I was thinking if I can play J.O. Waldner untuned then I buy max, but if I have to tune it (I use stiga extreme booster or PO) do I have to buy 2.0 ? |

FYI waldner uses sonex jp on his fh and the jo on his bh, thats the latest news from the donic president when my supllier met him at the recent world team championships

Yes better buy 2.0 if you're tuning. It's great. The spin is still good without tuning but It's much too slow untuned if you're used too tuned rubbers. If you don't tune you should try jo gold or the new jo coppa platin.
