With the VOC glue ban coming into effect in September I was considering getting the new water based speed glue.

Now I've been reading on this forum and about.table tennis that waterglue will also be banned. Is this true?

Should I bother getting water based glue?

thanks!

Water based glue is fine, but regular glue and possibly tuners and boosters will be banned.

Sure - there is thread "Water-based Glue" here. I've been using Tibhar Clean Fix for more than 6 months now and I like it more than regular caoutchuk-based rubber glues

Jim T - DragonK was asking for water-based speed glue though.  I don't believe Clean Fix offers any speed-glue effects.

I read somewhere that the ITTF withdrew all approval on adhensives.

Where did you read that? How are pros going to adhere the rubbers to their blades?  Their own saliva? Wink

The thread starter did write water base SPEED glue.. Wink
If it's water base, then it can't be speed glue.. If that was the case I simply put water on my rubbers.. LOL
So you suppose to tune the rubbers with tuners, boosters or whatever they call it. . After you do that, you attach your rubber with this water base glue..

The rumor is they gonna ban the optimizer too. Tuners and Booster are going to be banned.

Interesting link there LowEndNewbie.. So all i can find is that Falco Tempo Unlimited is supposedly a water-based speed glue, although i can't see how that is possible, but apparently the guys at Falco thought they invented it..
I doubt it will give the same effect as Noriko Clean or Fair Chack or the more well-known speed glue..
Does anyone use this glue already?

What ever happened to YOU developing the proper technique and speeding up the ball all by yourself, with out the aide of speed glue, steroids or other illicit drugs.  Just think of it as playing table tennis Nascar style, everyone is even and it depends on the driver(player) instead of Major League Baseball style where no one wants to admit due to self incrimination (I thought they were vitamins) Think Barry Bonds.Thumbs%20Down

I'm wondering about the same thing...as far as I can tell, you need some chemical that softens and stretches the sponge and rubber. I can't see that happening with water...maybe water + PO or something?

Yep, sorry, my oversight...

I just use a tuner and then glue the rubber with water-based glue (no speedglue qualities to it as far as I can tell)

I recieved a "dealer-mail" from Joola today. All boosters and stuff like that will be banned, spin max too.. They actually adviced us not to store the racket in the same room as a racket that had been speed-glued Confused

Not even in the same room?  What will happen if you do, I wonder?  I can't imaging the VOC from the rackets that have been speed-glued will have an effect on the other non-speed glue rackets.  Geez, with all the rules and regulations, TT is getting to be too complicated.  Confused

seems like the ITTF now has access to a very sensitive, cheaper VOC detector

My thoughts exactly..
maybe they blend the Falco booster with some water based glue.. But if that is the case, than the glue will be illegal too..

Speed glue and boosters will become illegal.

There are speed glues and boosters that comply with the earlier "No VOC vapor pressures above 0.3 millibar" ruling.   This doesn't mean that the stuff is water based!  PO is not water based but it does have very low vapor pressure.

ALL BOOTSERS,  SPEED GLUES, AND TOPSHEET TREATMENTS (Ex. SPINMAX) WILL BE BANNED.

Just glue your rubber to the blade using a water based plain glue.  Go play.  Thats it.    Stop wasting time thinking about how to cheat.  Use that energy to think about how to get better.

Hey dragon kid,

I've seen water based speed glue that can pass the ITTF's Enez test so I guess its not illegal. My friends were using it and I'm not sure if its the Falco one or not but I know it can pass the test. The results however are flaky, sometimes it passes and sometimes it doesn't.

Passing the Enez test doesn't make it legal.   It only means you are less likely to get caught>
