What is "reading 1 ave" ? Is that your durometer figures ? If so, shall we read it from softer 20 to harder 40 ?

Sorry for the late reply, I normally try any reply ASAP for you JCDI. Wink

I take 5 readings across the sponge and Average them out.
(You wouldn't believe the differance between some of them)

The Higher the Number - The Harder the Sponge
The lower the Number - The Softer the Sponge

Donic coppa platin soft has more control and  spinnier.

Also, Speed is pretty good.
Donic platin is little lighter than Coppa Gold.

Does that also mesures the top sheet hardness ?
Reason why I'm asking is that I'm very much puzzled with these figures. I got platin soft 2.0 and sonex jp gold 2.0 sticked side by side on my sister blades acoustic and I feel sonex gold much softer than platin soft.
It is also louder.
For grippiness, I agree platin soft offers better top sheet quality. After 4 weeks, it looks like new . Sonex gold is in the desto kind. It looks old with no color, scrambled edges, but after 2 monthes it plays just like the first day.
Platin soft feels also a tad faster and powerfull to me when looping and driving. In the short game, they are both as controlable.

My club mates are also feeling the same when I let them try my blades. That's why I suspect the top-sheet hardness having a lot to do with the overall result.
It reminds me EGP vs F1. EGP was given 42 and F1 45 by manufacturers and I've  felt F1 being softer.

Yes JCDI - you are so correct, Topsheet hardness and pimple spacing have a lot to do with the feel.

My next experiment will be to obtain Hardness of the top sheets.

To me the JP Sonex Gold was very similar to the new Desto, but the platin Soft and regular felt like it produced much more topspin.

ASR,

I have a test sheet of 2mm Platin and 2mm Platin Soft that will be stuck to a Primorac Carbon this saturday morning for testing. They will be compared to F1, Coppa JO Silver and Xtend HS.

JP Gold seemed to be in the Coppa JO Siver mold when I tested it i.e. soft sponge, soft topsheet in black. Bit too soft for me and less feel than Silver. I am expecting both Platins to be firmer but hopefully not as firm as JO Gold.

Whilst players like D McBeath found JO Silver too soft (he was a traditonal Coppa plus booster player) I am told he is liking the Patin much more than previous tensors tried. Yasaka Pryde also getting some good feedback I believe and I am on the list to get a test sheet from Jarvis Sports over next week or so. Watch this space for thoughts.

Happy testing coming up in Brum this weekend.

Ian
