Hey guys, basically I'm thinking of taking out a mortgage to fund a Darker speed 90.

Just wondering, what rubber(s) do you guys use for your 1-ply hinoki? More, importantly what hardness and thickness do you use?

Thanks heaps,
Geko

I use 2.1mm Tenergy quite successfully. It is a medium hard sponge. Nice feel and sound.

Cheers.

Tenergy aye? So it sits between Bryce Speed and FX hardness.

With a new mortgage you can get more than just one Darker Speed 90, but I get the idea Smile

I used Sriver L on 1-ply Kiso Hinoki (Jpen) for many years, and now I have switched to Inspirit.

I use two Srivers FX 2.1 on my WR-9 and it works fine for me but I can easily see how that would be not such a great choice for someone else...

I agree.  JimT recommended I try the Sriver FX 2.1 instead of my El Max (which made the combo too fast).

The FX 2.1 worked great.  It tamed it to where it was manageable, increased feel and the spin was great.

My hinoki was much faster than my keyshot light.

Hafa - Do you glue or tune your Sriver FX?  I have 2 sheets coming in a few days.  I have been playing with Sriver EL but decided to go a bit softer.  I know Jim T is using CTE.

I recently uncovered a piece of Andro Revolution which I bought when I first restarted my TT. I slapped it on my Darker Jpen and played for the first time with it yesterday. I must say it gives good control and enough power. In fact, I have always liked this rubber on all different kind of blades that I have used from carbon to arylate to multiply and now one ply. It is good playing rubber. Alas, its topsheet just don't last. Starts to break up at the edges already. If I can find one that plays exactly like this andro revolution with the same lightweight but minus the fragility of the topsheet, I would go for it on one side of my rpb.

Cheers.

flicker ...i use as is...no glue or cte... the problem i had with my keyshot is that it was too soft and didn't give me good hitting...the hinoki with fx is still faster than the keyshot light but not as soft and gives good hitting potential.

Donic Sonex Formula JP 2.0 (FH), Butterfly Sriver FX 2.1 (BH).

No speed glue. They work well for me.  I am a looper.

Actually with this particular setup I haven't reglued in more than 2 months and it still works fine... mind you those are the same SFX 2.1 which were almost drowned in CTE by accident in February - they still smell of CTE even after 9 weeks of "dry spell"...

i'm primarily a looper also, the sriver fx with the hinoki works perfectly.  no need for speed glue - i agree with linn
