If your in an urgent situation, shoot it with a light coat of hairspray so you can use the blade and get some protection from splintering until you get an answer about a more permanent solution, if it is needed.  I have never used a Maze blade, but I do at least lightly seal all of my blades with a mnimum of one light and thin coat.

i used a water base sealer with a diamond finish(its milky colour but dries clear)also dries in about 5minutes .with procedure below you can play with it right away).you can get it at home depot.small tin for about $5-$7. just put some on the blade wipe off then polish all with a cloth. repeat this procedure about 3-4 times

I send a mail to americantabletennis.com asking that question and what type of sealer they use, also if it will affect the blade playability and this was the answer:

"IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO SEAL THE BLADE!. Playability does not change at all, we use lacuers spray, very thin coat. We can weight rubber sheets but only as they are in the packaging. "

P.S what is lacuers spray O.o?

Many people use a spray on polyurethane and I would imagine that is what they used if they didn't endorse specific product.

I have sealed one of my blades with XIOM I -sure. Even though I applied only 2 thin coats  it changed the feeling of the blade significantly. Unhappy

I seal "Everything".  I use Minwax Quick Dry Poly. It would take at least 2 or 3 coats to be able to feel the difference on an All or Def blade.  It would take at least 3 to 5 coats to feel the difference on a fast, hard blade. I do not seal the handles, don't like the feel. Seal the edges and it helps from chipping thin top layers if you hit the table. If you use glue sheets or a strong glue, you can even pull fibers off one ply hinokis. Seal the little wings by the handle and they stay clean or can be wiped clean.Smile
