There seems to be a lot of discussion about this "glue ban." Apparently the ITTF is banning VOC's glue! Wow!

I came back to read mytt to find out what people are doing. The best solution is clearly to use the Bty Mizutani Jun ZL Science Fiction with T-energy rubber.

Outside that, what are people doing with "classic" equipment? Is anyone using their setup just without speed glue? Or a carbon blade with your unglued rubbers? Or possible take up a closer to the table game with fast short pips?

Variety is a strength of the sport.

well.. im not upset about the ban. I'm not for it.. but it doesnt really effect me- I've never used speedglue.. cant afford it, and i dont think its a necessity or atleast close to necessity unless you are a world class player and i use rubber people normally wouldnt touch without speedglue... and its PLENTY fast. Like sriver FX on my BH. I like it a lot, loops really really well for me. And my FH is a chinese rubber which from my understanding people never use without speedglue. I like chinese rubber without glue.. maybe its just me. But i think its great.

My one complaint is that speed glue is what some people are accustomed to, and its not fair to those opponents in my opinion. If i can beat them and they are all glued up with a bunch of layers.. thats a satisfying feeling. I know thats not what you asked about.. but i thought id say..

but Im giving the intensifier from DHS a try-ordered from cagaragesales. I'll use it sparingly though, and I probably will try my rubber without it for a while when i run out of it.

so no worries on my end..

thanks.

forgot to post: i've been using unglued light slow rubbers on an arylate carbon blade. This combo gives good topspins away from the table and is stable on drives above the table. I'm thinking of trying to do topspins closer to the table.

what do you use?

I forgot too- I play a looping/driving game on both wings from close/mid distance. Sometimes i get back kind of far if im playing the right person.. its exciting to get into big looping rallies back and fourth 6 feet away. That's definitely more common just fooling around at the club though..  But that FH rubber i have now is something amazing. it works really well close to the table, but at the same time has plenty of kick for mid distance play too. It feels like its meant for whatever you do. If I'm not satsified with the H3 im getting, Ill switch back.

This will sound strange, but I have been using a Wavestone (~off/off+) and LKT XT. This setup is fast over the table and slower on topspin.

I am getting some faster rubber soon, but I like the feel of euro style rubbers made by chinese companies (tiny bit of tacky feel but light).

pro xt is identical to pro xp after the initial tack wears off

I am getting dawei inspirit quattro UL fh and gambler six shooter for the bh. They will be going on a galaxy W1, which is a carbon blade with good feeling.

The IQUL FH/Six Shooter BH sounds like a pretty good combo.  I use Aces FH/Six Shooter BH on my main setup, but also use IQUL both sides on another (PhalanxII).  I like all 3 rubbers.

I'm assuming you don't speed glue. So you won't have to change your rubbers! Glad to hear you like the galaxy/iqul/6shot setup!

I've never used speedglue so it doesn't effect me at all. I'm currently using H2 (last 3 years) and TSP 6.5 Fitter (I feel the 8.5 would perhaps be better since the 6.5 is a touch slow for me). I play the full full court, attack and defence and both side loops, I mostly only loop from close to the table, 3rd ball attack, sometimes but rarely from mid distance, once I'm that far back I usualy go pure defence until they drop one short then I will loop again. There are many many players that have never used glue and are using ordinary equipment.

They have learned to hit the ball with more power over the years to match the guys that use glue. For the guys that used glue I guess a change in blade one step faster will let them keep the pace of game they are used to without any need to modify their game

I'm using a Darker Speed 70 japanese penhold blade (10mm) with a Bryce Speed FX 2.1mm unglued. It doesn't need any speed glue. Actually if I glue this thing I can't control my bat.

I've been known to tune my rubbers with PO Wink when I first put them on, but after that I don't normally pull them off to re-tune later.  And they seem to stay fast and spinny enough for me.

I don't think you should have to change your playing style to close to the table, that would just suck.  As for me I never used speedglue to begin with.  Those who are speedgluers are just going to have to learn to swing at the ball for real.

I've found a couple that works so far:

Speed 90 + Tenergy

Mizutani + Roxon

W-1 + tango extrem

my BH is short pips so no point posting that up :P
(\__/)

(='.'=) But there's no sense crying over every mistake,

(")_(") You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
