How do these two Yasaka rubbers compare? From what I have read other places it seems the Pryde has a very grippy topsheet and good speed and that it is harder to produce decent spin with V-Stage although its speed is very good. Is this true? Thanks.

I love the V stage topsheet but the throw is very low. I haven't used Pryde so I can't compare. I know I can get a load of spin from V stage but the blade has to be way too open for my liking. If I could find a "medium throw V stage" I would be all over it.

I use the Pryde (2mm) on my forehand and V-Stage (2mm) on my backhand with a Yasaka Extra cpen blade.
I also find that the throw angle of the V-Stage to be low but I get great speed and spin provided I really speed up the shot with plenty of wrist to turn it over following impact, and it's performance is very good from mid court using the rpb. I recently got Pryde for my forehand as an alternate to my 999 National rubber and those rubbers are quite different. Pryde is very bouncy and grippy and I found if I don't use a full stroke I can't get control. If you use a full stroke the rubber is very fast with a lot of control and makes quite bit of sound. I tried in with MaLin Carbon but went to Extra because of better control of the BH side. I let others tried it with MLC and Extra and all have commented how good the control was. I would say pryde is not good for slow game even with a slow blade because its behavior gets erratic because of the grippy rubber. The performance of the 999N is more linear but you have to do a lot of work. I did sense that it was running out of steam but it was fast enough because of the control. Pryde is a lot of fun to play with because you get a lot of control and decent speed with an all+ blade but you have to swing hard. |

How's the durability of Pryde? All the german rubbers I tried are very fragile, and the topsheet looks awful in a couple of sessions, maybe beacuse there's a lot of dirt in the place i train in.

Since i have pryde and v-stage on the same racket I will flip it and try pryde on the bh and v-stage on the fh and see how it works out and will file a report. It will be very interesting as they are quite different in character but almost have the same rating according to Yasaka. I may learn something interesting.

Well I tried Pryde on my bh rpb and it's okay and easy to control whereas V-Stage for fh was not great (at least of the Yasaka Extra). However, I still prefer V-Stage for rapid rpb counters where I managed to generate decent spin with good speed. However, Prdye is lot more forgiving with timing so it is easier to use and slower.
