It's happening right now.
Gao Jun, pips out penholder from the US, took out Liu Jia Wei from Singapore. Not surprising at all with the glue ban. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if a pips out player or a defensive player wins this thing. I usually don't follow the women's game that much, but in this case I am interested to see what the players are using. |

This comes a bit too soon after the Olympics and the glue ban - especially for the Singapore women, who surely had too many distractions and not enough training. Li Xiaoxia and Jiang Huajun on the other hand should be "fresh", and Guo Yue motivated. I agree that it's also a great opportunity for Gao Jun and Kim Kyung Ah.
There were a couple of older threads from guys in Malaysia who had tickets, hopefully they can report back on the event. |
