It must be branched out after 1989 (or far before), since it was not available in their 1989 catalogue: http://www.oldstiga.hu/bigimages/butterfly89.pdf

Are you sure it is a Butterfly racket? With the logo on the bottom? I even can imagine that it is a old Banda Appelgren Butterfly (like Banda Waldner) racket but Butterfly is not the brandname

PLLsystem -> Yes it's a Butterfly blade and have the logo on shaft end. And I think I bought it 1984-86 it was my replacement after my Stiga 2000 blade was broken.

I see.. Is it the regular Limba-Limba-Samba-Limba-Limba 5ply construction (I guess yes)? A photo from side and w/o rubber would be greeted :)
Good to see such antique staff.
If you need a Stiga 2000 alround wood or offensive wood, I can sell you in new(!) condition

That is a great blade!  I would have rated it as off to off- with the 38mm ball, not certain how the 40mm ball might change my impressions of the blade.
Fairly soft feel, and somewhat stiff.  Good control for top spin play, loop counter and block.  Good feedback from ball contact and was nearly perfect with 2mm sheets IMO.

After Applegren went to Donic the blade was renamed Seemiller and later discontinued.
A buddy of mine has one and will not sell it even though he dosn't use it.

Thanks sprite.
Compared to my new Andro off+ its allmost as fast, but then the wood has matured for more than 20 years. Started to play again after a 23 year break and I'm as pliant as a refrigerator.

it must be early 80's. A friend of mine uses the old donic appelgren allplay (with white label) and that one is made in the late 80's s this one should be older.

This blade didn't attain any renown like the Stigas of old so i doubt it would have any more value than what someone would be willing to pay.

My buddy keeps all of his old blades, but nobody tries to get any of them from him other than the Applegren!

WOW, I thought that I am the only one who has that old blade.  I remember getting few old blades from my uncle, and among them is Senkoh-Z, Yasaka Leopard, and this Butterfly Appelgren-AN !!!  The AN handle is quite thin for my hand, the wood is quite stiff, and I don't really look at it.  Hmmm, I should have cleaned it and kept it for collection then.

One of my friend who sells Donic once argued with me that it is impossible to have Butterfly Appelgren because to his knowledge, Appelgren was sponsored by Donic.  Boy, he is wrong and he even thought that my BTY Appelgren was a fake !!!
