Do "Search" function for this topic, they are plenty.

To summarize:

For newer production batch, Japanese-made Petr Korbel has serial number printed on the lower right of the surface.  The lens on the handle also has "Made in Japan" printed on it.  Below the handle, they have silver Metalic brand of BTY.

Made in China Korbel don't have serial number, no "Made in Japan" printed on the lens, and below the handle they have this black BTY logo (two black ovals, looking like Butterfly's wings).

If you have older batches, then they are a bit different.  Try the search function.

So set aside cosmetic differences, do they actually play any differently?

OK, whether the Japanese one plays better, I am not sure.

Most people here are looking for Japanese version, so there must be something to it (probably they think that China can't make the same Korbel).

However, one forum member pointed out quite some time ago that one member who had Japanese and Chinese versions, chose the Chinese version.

Also, it is quite hard to get a below 89 gr Korbel.  I have weighed several Korbels and most are in the 90s grams.  One even reachs 101 grams !!!

I read that Chinese Korbel are significantly lighter, they are in the 80s grams.

Is there such thing as a BTY Korbel with a small head (157x150)? Is there anything else all wood from BTY that's close to Korbel (a little faster is OK)?

If you are looking for something similar to Korbel, they are Adolescence (old and discontinued), Zhang Yi Ning (similar), and probably Oh Sang Eun (with Koto outer ply though).  Not sure about the head sizes of them.  Need to look at BTY catalog.

Thanks everbody for coments...
I understood that the diference of two versions seems to be weight ( the Japan version is more heavy) and the price ( the Japan version is more expensive). Or I'm wrong?

Juniortt,

I am not sure about price.  I believe the Japan & Chinese version are offered at similar price.  About weight, I said that it is hard to get below 89 grams Korbel but I know that several members here have lighter Japanese Korbel, including Tiehwen, who has 86 gram Japanese Korbel.  You just need to check with the store if they have lower weight Japanese Korbel.  Try www.presports.com from Malaysia.  They have great prices but with the delivery charges, they are about the same as if you buy it locally.

Some years ago the Korbel they distributed in Spain was the made in Japan with the old butterfly metallic logo in the handle.

However, I dont know the reason but I bough it another in the same store 2 years ago at the same price and was indeed the "made in china", with the new BTW plastic logo on the handle. By the way, its weight was exactly the same as Japanese, 88.5 grm.

Personally I think both version are really the same quality, but Japanese silver seal is nicer than plastic one and  the serial number seems to be more personal, not a massive bunch of a run.
