Hey everyone,
I promised a review for the K5 and here it is. I will be reviewing the K5 with Dawai Inspirit Quattro UL 2.2 and GeoSpin Tacky 2.2 on the blade. First off here's some pictures for visual purposes. I hope you enjoy reading my review, as this is my first review and first REAL contribution to the forum. I will be reviewing the rubbers on a separate thread later today. Picture of entire paddle Picture of the bottom of the handle Picture of the side Close Up Picture of rubber Picture of close up on the handle Blade's first Impression 1. Grip is very splinterish, very uncomfortable. Must wrap a grip. 2. Very nice outer plys. 3. On the typical light side, feels solid though. Very first hit 1. Blade is correctly advertised as medium/fast, although it can be considered fast if it was combined with faster rubber. 2. Loud ping sound, low vibration that has a very unique feel to it. 3. OK Controll Techniques -Looping Very good looping blade. 8/10 for dwell time, dwell time is good enough though. I would consider this blade has the most perfect dwell time to suit my style of play, its not to slow or not too fast. You can easily do all kinds of looping with either backhand or forehand. Backhand is a little harder compared to other blades though, forehand looping is a dream. Very easy to generate massive topspin with a fast speed and almost to perfect accuracy. I suggest a soft rubber with this blade on the forehand. -Chopping OK, thats all. 7/10 I would say. Chopping is pretty easy, but requires a little concentration to keep the ball low. You don't have to worry about the ball going into the net because the blade has a medium to high throw. Chopping with a hard rubber on this blade is MUCH easier though. Funny sound when you chop, it's like "pop". -Smashes Using a soft rubber on this blade to smash is better than a hard rubber. You have to close the blade almost all the way to keep the ball in though. I would rate it 9/10. Smashing is fast. Only drawback is the dramatic sound that it generates from the Kevlar/Carbon. I just don't like the sound. Smashes are easy to control, you could predict where the ball will land easily. -Serving Serving is decent, it's good enough for you too take any advantages if you are a good server. Thanks to the dwell time, you can serve with heavy spins. It's uncomfortable if you don't have a grip when serving though. The blade's handle is just not comfortable in my taste. OVERALL: The blade is a good one, very good price. Very comparable to anything double it's price tag. K5 is similar to Timo Boll Spirit. Just faster with a tad less of dwell time. I HIGHLY suggest a grip wrap if your going to get it though. Another thing is I have no idea why, but this is the best smelling blade I own. The moment I opened the package it releases a very unique good smelling smell. The wood is on the durable side. I highly recommend this blade or two winged loopers. I would used this blade as permanent, but I have Timo Boll ALC that suits my style of play MUCH better. IF YOUR going to buy it, BUY FROM COLE! Good seller! **CLICK HERE** SINCERELY, ACER! |

Is the handle hollow? I hate hollow handles such as so-called "WRB".

How would they know? Officially it is around 86-88 g - but yours could be anything from 80 to 92. You could go to your local post office and ask them to weigh it on their digital scales |
