Sleepycan  i  use  sandpaper  to  reduce  the  thickness  of  my   sponge, it  is   1.8mm  and  i  want  to  reduce  it  to  1.2-1-3mm.

I suppose, if you had a belt sander, you might try it BUT YOU SHOULDN'T!

Sorry for yelling, just wanted to make sure you heard me.
I am guessing the result would be a very poor one. Maybe not. Try it and if i'm wrong I'll eat a TT Ball! (Wink to JimT)
Buy a new sheet with the desired sponge thickness.

The result will be VERY uneven. You'll have bumps and cracks everywhere. Don't do it.

I tried that on a old piece of yasaka mark v and it failed horribly

I did it a few times with Sriver and the results were not too bad.
 
I took a Max (~2.25) down until it felt like my 'normal' sheets of 1.7.  I did not notice any huge inconsistencies!
Which is very surprising given that:
1) It was all done by hand and by pure guess work
2) Later, when I moved up to 1.9 on the BH I found the move difficult.  So I think I would have noticed the sanded 1.7 being more than 0.1mm out!
